[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Impending Ban (Page 1 of 2)

Maybe it's just me, but why is everyone soo convinced that there is this impending AWB with the election of Obama? With our current endeavors in the Middle East mixed with a global economic collapse I imagine that an assault weapons ban would be that last thing on the Democrats agenda. . . I mean the tribulations our country faced via 1994 pail in comparison to the shit-storm were in now . . . My guess would be that the issue of an AWB won't even carry a dialogue until some sort of fairly monumental Catalyst such as a Columbine comes up, and even then it would have to trump other contemporary domestic and global political affairs, which I really can’t even imagine. . . Not a bad idea to stock up on a couple of stripped lowers, but it’s my suspicion that were years away from any sort of an AWB that the gun vendors are clamoring about. |
I don't think we'll see an immediate ban (comments at the show today were funny, as if on Nov. 4 our 2nd amendment rights were going to vaporize). I think it will take them a few months, maybe March or April to get rolling if we get a Democratic sweep. Right now they are all staying away from gun control, they know they will have problems getting elected if they show their true colors. But once in office I don't think they will be able to resist the temptation. We will have sufficient warning before they pass any bans. I'd send a couple more $$ to the NRA or SAF instead of worrying about 'stocking up' right now. |
When the last one hit, I think many people were caught off guard, thinking it would never happen. This time people seeming to be erring on the side of paranoia, rather than vigilance. That said, we cant get complacent and think it won’t happen. Because if/when it does, it will be all those who are paranoid and stocked up on mags, lowers, ammo, ect who many will envy. That said, vigilance and caution is the key I think |
Because a reincarnation of the brady bill is part of their official platform. If obama wins, even by a small margin, they will claim it is a mandate for their platform and they will waste no time. The bill is already written. They are just waiting for the perfect moment to introduce it. |
Two words...Joe Biden. He is one of the most anti-gun people in the Senate. He is the architect of the original AWB and he is damn proud of that fact. You can bet a permanent AWB is at the top of his agenda. With a Democrap majority in Congress, and two extreme liberals in the White House... You can damn sure bet real $ that we will be among the very first to be targeted for a major "legal" ass-raping by an Obama administration. Whether immediately by a Presidential Executive order, or a little further down the road through a Dem-controlled Congress...we WILL be fucked...and it'll be permanent. |
Oh, it'll happen, and much quicker then anybody thinks. You see, with a dem controlled house and senate, with obamamassiah as prez, they'll attach the next AWB on some "super important economic bill" that's not really that important, but they'll scare the shit out of the sheep so much that they'll force their reps to vote for it. In the end, we'll get saddled with yet another social program/nationalized industry as well as another AWB, but this time without a sunset and with far more restrictions. Hell, they may even remove the grandfather clause if they feel drunk enough on their own power. They'll of course declare that they were given a "mandate" by the people when the obamamassiah was elected along with a near super-majority in the congress and senate, and we'll all get fucked in the ass without lube or a reach-around. Our only hope is that the first person to get hammered with it, takes it to the SCOTUS (which will probably take a couple of years at least) and gets "parts" of it declared unconstitutional per the Heller case. Of course the AWB will be written as such that any part that is found unconstitutional will not negate the rest of it, thusly the SCOTUS will be forced to go over it line by line, and anything that isn't killed will stand. Hell, they may even demand that the list of specifically banned weapons be individually decided on based on national sales, the amount in civvie hands because the Heller decision said "commonly used", and some are not commonly used and can be interpreted as being able to be banned. In other words, it will get written, implemented, heavily and brutally enforced, fought in court, re-written, fought again, re-written, etc, etc, etc....It should only take 6 to 10 years to figure it all out and in the meantime, the ATF will make their own decrees, implementations, etc. That 6 to 10 years will be a dark time for gun owners. Count on it. |
I wouldn't be surprised if they took action on the "gunshow loophole" and I can also see highly urbanized areas with greater gun restrictions. . But I'm telling you a gunban is not the first thing on the democrat’s agenda. You wanna know how to fastrack an AWB??? Lemme tell ya, someone takes a couple shots at soon to be president Obama and you'd have it in no time. Otherwise, there are way too many domestic and global concerns to be met before randomly rushing an AWB. but don't get me wrong, I have to reiterate, it's not a bad idea to get a couple stripped lowers, high cap mags, and a shitload of cheap Russian surplus ammo. |
My take is that it's a very possible event. It might not be number one on the agenda, but I wouldn't put it past someone to try to slip it past while everyone is looking at the economy in shock. I've been buying things for months to be covered for just such an event. Stripped lowers, high cap pistol mags, 30rd PMAGs, 20rd AR10 mags. Just seems to me that it's easier to do it a little bit every pay check over time than it is to do it all at once if we get an announcement. Especially since an announcement will definitely cause panic buying, driving up prices and driving down available stock. In short, the old adage "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" really applies well here. If it does come, I won't be happy about it, but I also won't be saying "I really wish I would have bought more of those before the ban". |
All my beer and guns where lost on the day the boating accident happended |

10 months till they come knocking??? It wont be a grab for the sake of a grab...they are too sly. It will start with civil unrest...and BOOM. We have the perfect storm on the horizon with the economy, energy, and Obama. |
There is much gay stuff on that blog. ? |
<shrug> He lives on Capitol Hill, his "handle" is Gay_Cynic, and he's a Pink Pistolero. Does the source of the information taint it? If a significant portion of the gay community turns against the Obamunists due to their anti-liberty stance, would you refuse their help? |
Yeah, in all seriousness, it's refreshing to see support in a "community" that's usually known for libtardness. I think it's cool, we need all the folks on our side we can get. Just not behind me.................... |
It's a good thing that the gay comunity is waking up a bit, other people should too. "In Germany they came for the communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up." Reverend Martin Niemoller, date unknown |
Yeah, i knew someone would spot that. You should have seen the stuff I cut! |
In case no one was paying attention, in the last Pres. debate Obama was praising the various nonsense that Biden had accomplished whille in the Senate. One of the moments he was proud of was Biuden's work on the "1994 'Crime Bill'" ![]() Obama is also the kind of man who agreed with the DC gun ban that forced citizens to leave any firearm they owned unloaded and locked up, or disassembled in their own home effectivly disarming citizens in one of the most dangerous cities in this country. ![]() I have no doubt a fresh ban will be on the top of his agenda... trust me, whatever else is going on in the world, they'll be multi-tasking to fuck us over. |
I agree with you on everything you said minus the "top of the agenda" Several months ago I would have agreed with you in your entirety but my point in starting this thread was to speculate that with the severe economic, domestic, and global political problems our country faces at this moment I don't think it'll be quite at the top of that list.
And I think he--or his butt-buddies in congress--will try to slip a ban in, attached to some socialist nightmare financing bill. |
glockluv I think you're trying to rationalize the vote you cast for Obama. Am I right? Want to accept a little wager? I bet you one assembled lower receiver that within 366 days of Obama's inaguration that there is in place a national weapons ban as bad or worse than the Clinton ban. If you are smart, you will decline this bet. |
Bet you think your a pretty clever guy huh?? Should really read the whole thread. . It's crazy but you actually gave the AWB 2 months more than me! Sooo yea, won't be taking your bet. .
Lol, first off Mr. Hardware I'm glad you think I'm trying to rationalize my vote for Obama, you can speculate all you want on my political views but the fact of the matter is I'm posting this on AR15, and if that doesn't help you rationalize what my vote then I don't know what to tell ya. . . Since you must know, I'm not very happy with either of the candidates but I will be voting McCain to secure my 2nd Amend rights. I am a single issue voter, I prioritize my political issues and vote accordingly. . . and for the record I'm a registered Republican. So Rationalize elsewhere please. . . Now that's over. . . You just acknowledged exactly what I've been saying. . . The DAY Obama is elected (foresight is a bitch) will NOT be the day that we lose our second amend rights. . Your probably right! In fact, you should read the whole thread, I actually agree! there is probably 50/50 chance there is another AWB put in place within a year, probably coupled with some sort of school shooting which acts as a catalyst. ALL I'm saying is that with the current domestic and international political scenarios we see today, I wouldn't give into the Gun vendor's hype that we are facing an IMMEDIATE IMPENDING BAN. . |
Just read my origonal post, and I did say "years away" soooo point is well taken. Was a bit of an hyperbole on my part for the purposes of emphasizing a point. Anyways was just a little upset that you told me I'm trying to "rationalize my vote for Obama" soo I wrote in haste. . . Pretty sure anyone who had been told the same, would respond in a similar tone. You have my appalogies. Point of the thread was to question the vendors hype and current political situation before impulse buying massive amounts of gun parts. |
