So, its apparently been decided that I need to invest is some sort of motorcycle, what say you?

I'm a cheap bastard, I have the money to buy said bike, I just hate spending money on anything non-firearm related.  IF anyone could give me some dang good reasons for owning a bike, I'm all ears.

I bought mine in late July, rode the hell out of it for a few weeks then went back to carpooling to work. I've ridden it too work once since I put the ammocan saddlebags on it. At least its paid for, since I won't be doing a lot more riding this fall, I dont feel bad.

If you want a motorcycle, get one. They're fun, but bear in mind unless you're into wearing raingear the season is about over.

How badly do you want to spend money right now?

Get one. Just like sex, there's no bad way to do it, just some's better'n others. It'll get in your blood and you'll love it.

This would mostly be for next spring, the little car I have is well beyond its expected service life, and am pretty sure it will be dead by then (granted, I expected it to die well over a year ago).  And while I very well may have 2 other vehicles after that one dies, I'm going to need something that gets good gas mileage.  I plan on buying one that needs some work (mostly because its cheaper, but also because I can fix diesel and gas cars/truck, and aeroplanes, and yet I know dick about bikes) that I can fix/modify/trick out oldschool over the winter.  I would be paying cash, I'm not going into debt for a bike.

Also, currently thinking about a 1980 Yamaha XS1100S, anyone ever have one?
