Last week I had a hot Ultrasound Tech check out the boys (sorry R-32, it was a woman) after I saw a Doctor complaining about some pain I was experiencing. Well today I received a call from my Doctor's office with the diagnosis. According to the Radiologist I have bilateral hydroceles (whatever that is) and small bilateral hernias. If the pain continues or worsens I get to go visit a surgeon.![]() |

I hope it gets better. Mine have never healed, but I didn't want surgery, so as long as I lift correctly, they only hurt 3-4 times a year until I shift to a different position. Just kinda a gentle reminder to take care of myself, nowhere near the original pain when the 2nd one tore. So it may be possible to avoid surgery. If even yours never heals, it MAY be possble to live with it. But then, that all depends on the extent of the injury.

Had to go look it up... that settles that... What is a hydrocele? A hydrocele is a painless buildup of watery fluid around one or both testicles that causes the scrotum or groin area to swell. Although this swelling may be unsightly and uncomfortable, it usually is not painful and generally is not dangerous. What causes a hydrocele? Flogging the single-barrel, pump-action yogurt rifle. |
OK, Whats the cure? I'll send a prayer Gib.... |
Makes no sense. Blue balls and I jerk it too much?

I don't want surgery either. Guess I just do what you do. Drink beer and relax. |
| Sorry to hear it, Giblet. At least now, when someone stops in front of you and yells, "YOU'RE NUTS!!", you know they're being all medical & stuff. Wow,water-on-the-balls. And then we hear the ugly troof: even squirrels can have trubble wit dere nutz. I think all this comes from pud pullin' left handed. |
Damn, I think I got it. |
I'm assuming that by bilateral hernias, they meant that you have inguinal hernias on both sides. Get the surgery. It's a week of a little pain versus the risk that your intestines will end up pushing into your scrotum, getting pinched off and dieing there resulting in an emergency room trip. And it's better than having to deal with the pain that will occur for the rest of your life unless you are lucky enough to be a lottery winner. You'll have some discomfort forever most likely even if you do have the surgery, but it's not as bad. |
Yeah, mine aren't normal. There is the opening in the muscle wall, but all the normal movements that enlarge the opening are the same movements that shift guts away from the opening. All the movements that shift guts towards the opening also close the opening. So the hole stays there, but nothing goes through. That's part of why I've been able to opt to avoid surgery. That may or may not be an option, but it's something they should have looked at during the ultrasound. So if they recommend surgery post ultrasound... BTW, my ultrasound tech was a hottie too, and about my age, in her late twenties. Lemme tell ya, I had to do alot of concentrating when she was digging around down there, to keep from making the situation MORE awkward. Maybe you had the same tech. Did ya go to a place on Colby?

Gunderson building. She was the cat's meow.

That's pretty lucky then. I'd be a little paranoid to not take the surgery. Mine wasn't nearly so liveable. I've a nice piece of mesh in me now, and every now and then I get some pain. It's just one of those things that never quite heals fully, but as long as it doesn't tear open again I'm happy. |
