Meh, you'll be back soon enough.  Just make sure to get my MAV from our rear D guy to give to Matt.

Tell him, and the couple guys I know in B co to take care make it back in one piece.  Let me know if anyone needs anything and I'll see what I can do.  Books or magazines that aren't there, virus free movies of the frowned upon type...not that I'd knowlingly violoate GO1 or anything, no not I , but stuff that's actually useful instead of a hundred decks of cards and a case of toothpaste.

I'll be going to Kent to see my buddies in A Co (really my platoon who is getting stuck in another company) off when they leave for that last bit of training before Iraq.

I used to say "be safe",, but the only way to do that is stay home and hide under your bed, so I've changed a bit.

EEEEWWWWWW!

Great, now I'm got a picture of GMW letting other guys do body shots off of him.

My mom told me to keep a couple of people between me and the bad guys when I was overseas.  Still seems like good advice.

The soldiers are scheduled to depart today for Fort McCoy in Wisconsin, and are expected to arrive between late October and early December in Iraq, where they will serve with some 900 California guard soldiers who also are part of the 81st Brigade.

The 81st Brigade first went to Iraq in March 2004, and was involved in a range of missions that included neighborhood security patrols in Baghdad and other areas. This time around, the brigade is expected to be primarily involved in convoy security, and will practice driving armored Humvees and other escort vehicles in the final weeks of training in Wisconsin.

During the first deployment, soldiers were away from their families for more than a year, including training. This time around, they are scheduled to be back home within 12 months.

It fucking sucked to see them leave when I couldn't go with them.  The other medical non-deployer (torn up knee) summed it up when he said it was a little depressing, and that it felt like he was a shitbag.

Good luck, Godspeed, and I'll see you in a year

Can I get a Heinekin too when I get back?
If we don't get extended here for another 9 months.
Hot and humid today 117*F is just a little warm for a Washingtonian.
