So I'm gonna have to order a bipod here before too long. I'm currently thinking the harris 9-12. I think the grip-pods look a little doofy, but I like the idea. Anyone have a suggestion? What do you use? I've heard the "Rock-Mounts" or whatver they're called get loose pretty quick, but they are cheaper. |

I guess it is simply a mater of personal preference. I personally like the Tango Down ACB-4 bipod. The legs are made of the same high-tec polymer as p-mags and such...the centerpiece is cast aluminum (can tell by the parting line). It has about 20 degrees of traverse built into the bipod base and it is very light weight compared to the metal bipods like the versapod or the Rock Creek SOPMOD. I am not a big fan of the Harris bipods as they have lots of bits and bobs and springs and such protruding out all over the place which seem to catch on every little thing as I move through brush. The only disadvantage of the Tanngo Down bipod is that you can only pivot one leg at a time...basically taking two hands to operate...similar to a Sako TRG bipod. The Accuracy International/ Versapod/ SOPMOD bipods all use only one hand to deploy. SOPMOD's are really nice bipods...just realy heavy. |

Ive got a Bobro/GGG bipod mounted on a FF'd heavy barrel AR and at least 1 if not 2(??)Harris's in the parts box getting dusty that came off rifles I bought in the past. I'm gonna suggest something other then a Harris for a serious bipod. For something on a plinker/fudd gun a Harris or the Walmart equivalent made in a country where they eat dogs would be sufficent. All about priorities and expectations. |
You guys must make a lot more than I do!! ![]() I have a couple Harris bipods, a grip-pod, and one of these. They all work fine. Here is (IMO) a good read/comparison on various bipod options for different purposes..... |
