This little unique piece has kept me up the past few nights. Luckily the auction has ended without me owning another 'safe queen'. Now maybe I'll get some sleep. (Think it's too late to send a 'second chance' offer?) |

Right on. I need another gun like I need a hole in my head, but the habitual-gun-whore inside of me still looks. I've always swore if they ever offered a stainless steel M41, I'd be the first on the list. (especially with those older classic solid wood grips |
No, I think you're correct 100% on the 'value'. (the auction ran 3 times prior to being bid at all) I just saw something that I found pretty groovy |
| 875 was rather steep. Personally, I'd step over my mothers' still steaming corpse to get it at 700. But, the changes Phil noted, do detract from it, in terms of classic/collectibility. OTOH, it would still keep the chubby going long time. reery, reery long time. Though I've been know to dabble in the pimp-o-licious, I do have a weakness for chrome, or stainless. But, usually, only when tastefully done. Like my pride & joy Browning HP in the factory silver-nickel-chrome. mmmm, shiny objects, mmmmm. |

41's are an amazing pistol, mine is an older A prefix with both the stock 7.5(with comp) and latter the heavy 5"(or whatever it is) lovely guns, think I paid $600 2 years ago when found NIB on Sturm, granted it would sell for prolly $800 now. that was not a safe queen(for sale) that was a shooter IMOP |

I have sold all safe queens, some at a profit some not. IMHO safe queens are for the good of the next owner. You shouldn't even fondle or use snap caps. They are like putting the clear plastic seat covers on your new car like my granddad use to do. Then when he sold it he would take the covers off and the new owner got to put his ass on the original fabric and enjoy the nicely preserved seats. All that said that is one fine looking 41 that I would love to tickle those great looking grips on. |
That model rocks. I had a copy that I still miss....someone here in WA posted a pic of one a while back, and my heart even skipped a beat when I first saw it. By far the sexiest combat/defense production handgun ever made, IMO.
Uh-huh! I already miss her, even though I'm glad it'll end up in someone elses closet. |
The Model 41 is pretty much agreed on, in all circles, as being the finest .22 target pistol of American manufacture. If any combat pistol balanced as well, or had as nice of a trigger, we'd all be agreeing on that too. Target guns shouldn't be compared to combat/defense pistols, or even hunting handguns, of course. But if you really want to shoot well, beyond snactical, the 41 makes it very easy to do so. |
