I need to renew my license next month and was wondering about the enhanced license. I never have been to Canada, but might visit in the future. Anyone have theirs yet and how was the experience crossing the border?

Get a passport, been on the news about the WA enhanced not working.

I just got my enhanced license but have not tried it yet.

It was my understanding that the WA enhansed License ONLY worked at Wa. point of entries... If you come back from Canada via Montana, it's not recognized.  Also no bueno coming back from Meheco!

I try not to wear too much tinfoil but that DL has RFID and your face is scanned and added to a biometric facial recognition database. Fuck that.

Enhance Licenses will only work at border crossings in WA State.

(Ask the guy who tried it in Mexico)

New passports will also have the RFID.

Is that why they can just run them over a scanner now?

Nope,
The scanner reads the 2 lines of code at the bottom of the bio page.
You'll also fine those lines on the Enhanced License, Neuxus cards, Green Card etc.

If it has RFID, you wouldn't need to run it over a scanner.. the scanner would have detected you already.  Some people don't like being able to detect and classify you since each signal response is specific to you.  Suppose you can wrap aluminim around stuff to limit it.

At least the passport is foil lined to prevent someone to scanning it while its in your pocket. Actaully, if i had one of these "enhanced licenses" i'd probably look into shielding when its stored in my wallet.

Well I don't cross the border everyday, so I have no need to carry my passport around all the time.

I'm not worried about it being scanned when it's at home in my drawer.

Don't get me wrong, I like the scan, it speeds up the process. If you are traveling through several countrys, changing planes and whatnot fast is good.

I renewed three years ago and I am a bit disapointed that it doesn't have the chip in it. That way the Chinese that made the chip could keep track of me too!
