This petition is for changing the current laws regarding the use of firearm suppressors in the State of Washington. Most of you know, that it is legal to own and attach a suppressor but actually firing your weapon with it attached is a gross misdemeanor.

I tried posting this in GD thinking it might get a bigger response.(I was wrong).

Why does it not point out the States legality of OWNING one, but not being allowed to use one?  Like having a muffler for your car that you can put on but cannot start your car with it?!?!?

Maybe so if this back fires they don't know we could already own them?
I don't know, the person probably forgot to include that. It's a start though. I have not seen any action towards getting this changed since 2005 so this is a step in the right direction.

I would like you to support legislation, such as bill SB 5167 - 2005-06 sponsored by Senator Hargrove in 2006 to simply decriminalize the use of firearm sound suppression devices that are already legally owned.
