Which one?
Where to buy?

Another +1 for the TA-31F.  It's what I have as well.

I got mine from opticsplanet.com

Another good place to buy from is LaRue Tactical.

I'll be one of the dislikes.....

I was not impressed with the ACOG last time I used one. I figured for that kind of money it would have been a whole lot better than it was. I bought an Eotech instead and have loved it.

Most people seem to like them though.

TA31RCO-M4CP

TA648MGO is on my wish list.

TA648MGO-308 isn't out of the question either.

I adore mine.  Absolutely adore it (TA55A - 308)  +1

TA31F here too... I love it.  But I must say I am very partial to my eotech also.

Don't buy local unless they are having a hell of a sale. Internet prices are a lot better than having gregwhore tax your purchase.

Eotech and ACOG have their advantages and disadvantages..    Go to the store and try it out.  I thought the ACOG was cool, but went with a Eotech with a magnifier so I could do both range and CQC

ACOG Investment

I bought two TA31's four years ago when they were scarse as 220" typical mule deer and before the 31F came out. One of them is in the EE for a 25% loss. Buy high/sell low. g]Get what you want, but dont let investment enter into it.

I have an EOtech already and I'm thinking about putting it on an AR pistol if I get one or on my 870. I shot Elf's FS-2000 with an ACOG on it at the fall LCR and loved it. Thanks for your guy's help.

Depends on what you are using it for... I have been to a few classes now and found that the EOTECH was great in a in your face situation... but now that I have gone thru many situation I found that the ACOG fills the gap when your in a situation that needs distant, at 100 yards I had a harder time using my EOTECH, but with the multi times ACOG, man it was sweet and did the trick!  So yes Now I will be buying a ACOG to use on my all around riffle, in close or 200 yards away I will see my target!

I use both the NSNTA01 and TA31RCO. Both optics platforms are excellent scopes, worth every penny.  I found that Federalway Discount has some of the best deals on these trijicon products in the local seattle area.

EOtech all the way, but each his own.

I have heard of guns being an invsetment. I dont or cannot think of an acog that way. Maybe as a tool that will be used. But i doubt a used acog will  ever go up in value. guns on the other hand...

It can be thought of an investment maybe not in the terms a value, but rather piece of mind, personal pertection, and for SHTF situations. So yes, I think of it as an investment. I think most will agree with that.

As well as it being pretty much a pay once and use it for a lifetime piece of gear.

An owner may or may not spend the money for maintenance when the tritium illumination dims too much.

What are you going to be using this scope for?
Making tiny groups down range?  A high power traditional scope would probably be better.
Investigating “bumps in the night”?  A red dot sight (RDS) like the Aimpoint or EOTech would better.
Will you use it primarily during the day or night?  I love my ACOG during the day, but prefer a RDS at night.

RDS are quite capable and I have no qualms about shooting a target out to 200 yards with one (probably further if my favorite range was longer).  When I’m shooting for group size, or trying to hit small targets I’ll opt for traditional rifle scope (in my case a Leupold) before I’d pick an ACOG because of the increased magnification and the ease with which I can adjust scope to the specific bullet I’m shooting.

I purchased a TA31F to have a scope the filled the gap between the aforementioned sight types.  I’m not as fast with an ACOG as I am with a RDS because of the eye relief and lack of brightness adjustment, and I’m not as accurate as with a scope because of the lower magnification and the fixed BDC (that is dependant on you using a load comparable to M855).  However, when I’m headed up into the hills, the rifle I grab is almost always crowned with an ACOG.

I’m currently waiting on a DOC mount to try out the mini-RDS to see if it’s a good fit for me.  If it is, then the ACOG will stay on my M4 24/7.

The ACOGs with the fiber optics work almost as good as an eotech/comp m for close shit and really shine past 200 yards.  They're damn near indestructible, and hold their zero well.  I think Rainier Arms has some pretty good prices, esp if you're military.

I go out of state once or twice to go jack rabbit hunting and Coyote hunting on the dry side. The the EOTECH has worked great in both night a day time hunting. But target identification and shot placement are of my greatist concerns and I definitly want it for the SHTF senerio. So I think I'm the same page with most everyone here.

I almost got the TA31F today, but ran into a small inventory problem. Hopefully soon I will have it mounted on top my Bushmaster.

Did you have a magnifier with the Eotech?  Hard to compare the ACOG & Eotech for distance shots without the Eotech magnifier.

For compactness ACOG would win out for distance shots since it's built in magnification.
