There is no such thing as "Black Rifle Disease" aka "BRD". Black Rifles are medicine. A healthy dose of these help fight off real diseases like Tyranny.

It's still in the box, so I'm not sure my opinion is all that valid yet.  Visual inspection says it's all as imagined from gleaming the pics of the pre-prodution units over recent months. That said, I'm optimistic considering my tastes, uses, and preferences. Every adjustable stock I've owned so far has plucked my mustache leaner with every use (not the end of the world, but an instant pain in the ass and a solid dislike). And, I like a solid & unobstructed cheekweld, which looks very likely with the UBR. Everyone 'climbs in to the rifle' differently, so I'd probably advise trying one before buying. You can even try out mine first.

The 'rifle' was a limited run from Browning (green anodized Buck Mark Carbine), but as delivered, it featured a lower-end Butler Creek OEM barrel. (as rumor has it, it didn't shoot worth sour owl shit, much more detail to read on that at rimfirecentral.com if you're inclined) I listed & sold the barrel when I took delivery. I had previously owned one of the true target versions of the Target carbine Browning Buck Mark rifles, and was pretty disappointed with the accuracy after many months of trial and an endless tale of ammo experimentation and even some intelligent mods to the rifle.  I loved the ergonomics of the rifle, but really wanted true target-grade performance... Then, in a very subtle announcement on rimfirecentral.com, Tactical Solutions (Boise ID) announced that they were willing to do a very limited, 'per request' run of carbine barrels. So, I ordered one, in green, and ordered up a new version of the Buck Mark to match it. Long story short.... groups were reduced in half at least, and I got to know the owner of Tactical Solutions a bit along the way, (hell of a good man, who's genuinely interested in his craft  ). But, it wasn't a 'keeper' of a rifle.Where the rifle went is a pretty good story too, but probably a bit lengthy for this post. (searchable on arfcom though) HTH |
