I made an ammo run this afternoon to Outdoor Marksman and also picked up ammo for my dad and a family friend... between three of us we spent $464.50 on 2500 rounds of ammunition.. 1000 9mm for me, 1000 .45 for dad, and 500 9mm for a friend. Sure is getting expensive.. $149.80 for the 9mm and $239.80 for the .45

Obligatory gun picture

In comparison.. Bi-Mart has been running Remington .45 on sale for $12.99 a box(259.80 per K) and 9mm for $7.99 a box(169.80 per K).. and Remington is definitely a step well below WWB or Federal AE. Reg on the .45 is 15.79 and on the 9 is 9.79, and that just barely covers cost

Sounds like it's worth more than my pickup

I know where a couple of cases of AE 223 are for 350 a case, not jumping on it, yet..

It is pretty bad when we are talking about $300+ .223 being a "good deal"

I remember buying that Prvi stuff for $180 a K from Sportsman's Guide.. good times...

I, for one, will just curtail my shooting until the prices either drop, or at least stabilize. This is just nutz!!!

Sportsman's Warehouse has a pile of WCC Q3131 for $7.99/box and if you use their $10 coupons for 7 boxes at a time it comes out to .36/rd plus tax.

This was at Silverdale in Kitsap County, but there have been many reports of Q3131 showing up all over the place.

I thankfully I built a huge stash when it was cheap but I am also cutting back until the
prices drop. I used to p/u two or three cases at every show but at today's prices
it would cost as much or more than the rifle that I am shooting it out of. I think
its ridiculous

It'll continue to get worse... and then when Hillary's elected, .223 will reach $1 a round.

Not at my house. Stocking up now. 18 cent a round reloads with what I have now.

IMO, the .mil brass will get sucked up and recirculated via reloaders before retail customers will pay $1 /round.

I just don't see the market supporting that price in any quantity. People will buy high end match ammo and shoot it conservativelly, but they aren't gonna pay a buck for plinking ammo.

If anything, watch out for an explosion of remanufactured ammo from questionable sources.

I don't think it's the market that will get us to those prices.  It'll be the politics.

Soon enough, the expression, "one shot, one kill" will become an economic expedient.
