I was just messing around with some of my kit and noticed that one of my flashlights wasnt working, opened it up and the batteries had corroded for w/e reason.  no problem, I had a spare set... opened it up and they had also corroded.  I cant think of any reason why that would have happened, but I'm glad I found out now instead of during a time when I actually needed them...

I'm a firm believer in using the gear you rely on.  If you don't know it works, how can you possibly rely on it?

When you go hiking or camping, take (and use) the gear that you hope to rely on in a bad situation at home.

A wise and practical solution.
