4 of them have flown over in the past hour.

Been a few years since I've seen/heard them here.

It's the ones you CAN'T hear that you should be worried about.

They are probably out scouting hunting areas. Look for deer, plot it, take a couple days off during the week and go hunting.

Good, 'cause my new plumb tree is just about history, along with most of Chelleshooters new flowers. (new broken branches every morning)

If these poor furry bastards keep destroying everything we're trying to grow out here, I'll be forced out of retirement, and .... well, make room in your freezers.

See them in Seattle couple times a month always going north, I think there trying to find the MTC. Probably want to talk to Strat!

They fly over Olympia probably at least once a week.  Often in pairs.  Probably trying to piss off the liberals.

When I was at Ft. Cartoon I took the Hunter's Ed course on post.  Showed up for class in a flight suit the night they talked about "illegal to hunt within 24 hours of a flight on which you have conducted game spotting..."
They read that one three or four times.
Didn't say anything about saying "Hey, Chief, I'm hunting tomorrow in Training Area 23, can you check it out for me when you fly today?"

we used to see them up at Mt. Rainier regularly. They were used to rescue stranded climbers.

Funny you mention that. Sunday while I was driving around Vail tree farm I had one of those buzz over my head. It flew over to a flat spot on a hill about 500 yards from me. Hovered for several minutes, moved to within 20 or so feet from the ground and hovered for a couple more minutes. It finally touched down, sat there for about a minute then lifted off and flew away. I figured some high ranking muckity muck had got a deer and didn't want to drag it out

That's pretty crazy - I saw one of them out and about the other day also.  Sure stops you in your tracks, compared to a regular helicopter's noise.

Got all excited talking to my 10-year-old stepdaughter about the counter-rotating blades, until I realized I was actually watching her eyes glaze over as I spoke.

Couple of weeks ago I was at Safeco field for the Sofdrink Factory company meeting.  Saw a chinook do probably 5 or 6 passes over the city.

The salmon are spawning in front of my house right now, but I don't think they're Chinooks....

(tried to get some video of them, but it aint easy with them being so far off the bank, ...and my camera keeps getting wet)
