Rollout is scheduled for 7-8-07 (big "surprise" there) And yes, you are correct. They have several HUNDRED part shortages. Lots of KHI thought Vought was making it...Alenia thought Spirit was making it, Boeing thought... well you get the picture. Got a lot of hardware on that bird! Hope she makes me proud. |

Ya.....the 787 has left the buiding but it's really just a shell game. (no pun inteded!) The airplane is just a shell. It has no interior! We usually don't roll airplanes out of the hanger and into the paint shop without the interior installed! I'm retiring in October! Yahooooo! |
That's because the first 7 aircraft are for test/certification purposes only.....with the first couple not getting an "interior" installed to make room for all the test recorders. The difference between these first few aircraft vs. any other new airplane program is that normally, there are only one or two test aircraft. With the compressed time schedule to delivery of the 787, more aircraft are needed to complete the required testing in a shorter period of time. |
