I had my total knee replacement surgey on May 14th. I was in the hospital for 4 days and then I was in rehab for 8 days. I wasn't able to go home after my surgery because my wife had just got out of the hospital because she had blood clots in her lungs. Generally speaking I'm starting to gradually get better but I had a bit of a set back. I went over to Strat's on Sunday and my leg hurt like hell. (it's supposed to hurt!) On Monday I had my 3 week follow up with the orthopedic surgeon. He said everything was healing up well. I mentioned that my calf and ankle hurt really bad and it was extremely painful the day before. He sent me in for a vascular test and lo & behold the reason for my ankle and calf pain is because I had a big ass blood clot in my leg. So they put me back in the hospital Monday afternoon and injected me with blood thinners. I'm back out of the hospital now but I will be on blood thinner medication for 6 months. So basically I'm in the same sorry assed situation that my wife is in right now![ The good news is that I was supposed to go back to work next Monday on June 11th but the doc extended my disabillity leave to June 25th.
The powers that be at Boeing don't know this yet but as soon as I return to work I am submitting my retirement request and I'm pulling the plug on the 1st of August. Having this time off has given me the opportunity to re-evaluate my priorities in life. Boeing isn't one of them! I have bad dreams about going back to work. At least I won't have to put up with it much longer. After 27 years I've had enough of that shit!

Well Happy Retirement!..

I do have to say that you looked pretty good for an old broke dick at Strats the other day, I hope things work out a little faster for you.

I'm really surprised that orthopedic surgeons don't warn people better about blood clots after surgery.  I had clots that obligingly stopped in my lungs instead of dancing all the way to the brain.  The docs put me flat on my back for ten days on anti-coagulents.  It was awful because I felt fine.  Wouldn't even let me get up to pee.
