Well, it kicks like a little mule with .357 Magnums in it. Almost no recoil with .38 spl.

After about 50 rds. its cylinder lock quit locking. Taking it to Mary's to see if Dan has a fix for it -- otherwise its off to the factory for the little bugger. Hopefully I can escape without buying anything else, but that AR10 lower is talking to me...

The recoil is worse/less managable than my Kimber Pro Carry II, it was difficult getting it to make anything resembling a group, and getting use to the double action trigger is not easy for a 1911 guy. I can see the gun moving as I squeeze and can't seem to do anything to stop it (tried various finger positions and grips).

My KRRC membership is now renewed, next year is going to be fun -- they are requiring 10 hours of club service, or else they will charge you $10 per hour you haven't completed. Its just what I need to get me off my butt and more involved. And they are going to have a cool new electronic gate here in a month or so.

UPDATE: Its broke. Going to send it back to Ruger. I want a new one, unless they can convince me that it really is fixed. Dan's comment was 'that NEVER happens!'. And then he wanted to know if I'd been letting Rune75 shoot it

(for those unfamiliar with wheel guns, if the cylinder isn't locked it can fire without being lined up with the barrel, blowing up in your face. I was lucky today. Damn lucky.

I used to have an SP101 and really enjoyed the massive ball of fire with the .357 loads.

Damn, that's the first time I've ever heard of that major of an issue with Ruger revolvers. Usually it's just the DA trigger pull

Is it DAO?

I was at the range today, 0900-1130. Three of us had our M-14's and other assorted stuff. 308 does ignite tannerite, but don't tell R-32!

The SP101 is incredibly tame on account of its heavy weight. Fun to shoot with magnums.

Yes, I got the DAO model without hammer spur for snag-free draws. I end up using my first knuckle on the trigger instead of the finger pad like on the 1911 and it moved as I pull through. I guess I need more practice, or just shoot stuff at close range

Dry fire the piss out of it. Even better, get some snap caps and practice while watching TV.

Ruger's usually have a lot of rough edges.. they smooth up nice though

Sorry to hear of the malf. Rugers are so reliable, I bet they'll be telling the story about yours at company functions for years to come. FWIW, I have trained with wheelguns for just about forever to cock it on the draw. (I've never done for shit double action.) I don't have any affection for DAO. I know it was an industry response to transitional training back when everyone was upgrading to pistols. Personally, I think it's a trojan horse. I would suggest getting another one with an exposed hammer. Then adjust your carry options accordingly. That will create much better results than always shooting the second zombie on the right! You don't want to use your trigger finger improperly and I don't believe there are many, if any, grip options out there.

I have the ported DAO version. I stick with 125 grain .357 rounds. Works for me.
