So I've had this thing for about  1 year now. Everything started our fine, cool little SUV, easy on the gas and turned heads just about everywhere. Well now the honeymoons over and now the truths coming out. Check engine comes on, so I call OS. Operatetor tells me to take it in asap. Call the Hummer dealership, service guys say see you in 2days. 2 days and a call later.

Blown Head! Can you believe that! No leaking fluids and a Blown Head!hehe

Sorry But it's a Chevy Colorado with an extra $10k in make belive tough guy look...

Pisser about the blown head gasket though, but there is simply no way around that tiny little 5 cylinder lugging all that weight around.  It's going to be working hard.

Hummers are goofy.  If you had said your H2 had exploded I would have cheered pointed and laughed.  Yeah I'd buy you a beer afterwords though.

The H3 is a lot less offensive than the H2 though, and you have my sympathy.  If you still dig the H3 though don't fret a blown head gasket, it happens.  On my old Ford with a 3.8 liter V6 swapping out head gaskets became a yearly thing allmost, and with only the one gasket it shouldn't be too expensive.

Why? Do you enjoy being passed by Geo Metros and not being able to park anywhere?

Ah, shut up man, let us have our dreams of what we Wish we could have....I been thinking how it would be to own a H1 for 15 years........not that I would by one, I have a 98 Lexus SC300. Besides, I enjoy be able to go 100mph leasurely on 405, when safe, than maxing out at 60mph.....I would like to have a REAL HMMWV, with turret mount opening and slant back, but last I checked they went for $20k for an 1986 that was bought before Clinton turned GAY and ordered all .mil stuff destroyed rather than sold as surplus.

Original owner of a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee here.

225K miles and still running like a scared rabbit.

Sorry to hear about your Hummer. A gal on my street owns one ( 4 yr old model ) ... I gave it a look over and she let me test drive it when it was brand new. I thought it was a dog.

If I spent more time in the mountains 4 wheeling?  I'd snap up a Hummer in a heartbeat.  The REAL H1's are pretty damn tough and are extrememly capable off-road.  Their on-raod performance is mediocre sure, but that is not what they are designed for.

It's the H2 that cracks me up.  All the tough looks, none of the tough internals.  It's comical when you see these fuggin things out in the world, NEVER dirty, allways with some extra lame 22" wheels and driven by folks that...  Well, lets just say I am sorry for what mother nature did to em'.  Poor little things.     Never has a more stereotypical "Small Man disease" vehicle been made.

But like I mentioned, other than being slow I thought the H3 was kinda cool.  Differen't looking without so much "Hey Looky here I have a small penis" compensation.

The H2 was a Tampa Florida Standard...  Right up there with small brains rarely used, fake tits and faces, and completely devoid of worthwhile content.

before they were hugely popular I remember seeing an ad in a catalog marketing the original Hummer as a farm/ranch use vehicle, it was like 20-30K, funny how the price went to six digits after the Gulf War and the Hollywood folks just had to have one.

And you'd find just how tough that fiberglass front clip isn't but how expensive it is to fix/replace.

That wasn't a Clinton thing. I believe it was written in the orginal contract that they be destroyed and not resold. The DOT didn't help matters any by refusing to certify them to be licensed for street use, either.

H1s are great in open terrain. They really suck on tight mountain trails or in the woods.

Sorry to hear about your luck.  But thanks for the added confidence that I made the right choice.  I almost bought one last October but decided on a Jeep Grand Cherokee instead.  Got it fully loaded with the employee pricing deal for about the same price as a base level H3.

Thanks guys for all the responses...

Toyoya's FJ is a neat little Jeep, but have you notice how quickly the prices went up on those things?

Blown Head or not I still think that it's a cool little penis. Besides its the wife choice. I wish it was a blown head gasket, that would mean I would have gotten it back sooner.

no I haven't you can get them at MSRP or below all day long.......and its not a Jeep

I kinda sort like the H1, the H2....nope, the H3......its better than the H2

car problems suck, worse when they are new.....but at least its under warantee

and yup, Toyota has had their head gasket issues, all those V6 pickup, even the 93-97 Land Cruiser are having some HG problems

for world exploration, hard to beat the Unimog outiftted in Germany as a camper(a really big camper). MAN also has some slick rigs. The Germans however are most often found in modified Land Cruisers(70 series, we don't get in the US) traveling all over the world for years at a time, odd that they don't seem to use the G-Wagons much

it was actaully called the Toyota Jeep back in 1951 or so, they had to change the name.

55+ years of the Land Cruiser, the US didn't get em untill 1957, the Fj25 was the 1st model sold in the US, 1961 the Fj40 was intoduced, but still shared some of the Fj25 bits(and did so  for a few more years)  Yes I am a Cruiser geek.....I have one of the largest Land Cruiser literature(and toys, parts books, odds and ends) collections in the world.....

notice where the owner of this lives......and yes from what I can tell, he is still around, not sure about the 25 though
