Where to start?

Phil donated an older PIII which I salvaged the hard drive, case, lan, sound & video cards from. I found a stick of RAM that fit, as well.

That recreated my PIII 850 into a functioning machine. I was able to activate my copy of XP without paying for the activation, thanks to S_in_S's suggestion that I go throught tech support.

S_in_S donated an AMD machine which had some deperately needed RAM and a slightly faster processor, as well as a DVD player and hard drive.

La_Bunny has download disease. If it says Adobe, she has it, along with Quicktime, RealMedia and who knows what else likes to load a process into the overhead. That, along with her anti virus /anti spyware software. She has more processes running on her machine than I can figure out. The RAM and processor returned her computer to something resembling functional.

All in all, not only am I running again, but our hardware has gotten some badly needed help. Things have improved, incrementally.

With a new small footprint case, I will be able to put a modest computer together, providing that Phil or S_in_S don't take exception to the idea. Maybe somebody can come up with a cheap copy of Windows.

Sprint is sending us two new cell phones to go with our new two year contract... Should be a little cheaper than our current arrangement.

The stuff I gave you I gave in the spirit of a gift to help out a pal in need, it's yours to do with as you see fit.

BTW- I do have a somewhat smaller mid tower case here in the pile of PC parts that are not doing anything, it should take that PII MB just fine as it's currently home to a Celeron 400.

Pentium 200 anyone?

Anyone?

Anyone?

Actually, this would be an AMD 1800+, 512 Megs RAM, 32 Meg ATI Rage video, DVD player. Nothing super fancy, but definately an Internet / Home office Machine.

Same as Phil..what I gave you is now yours to do with what you see fit; AMD 1.8, 1 GIG DDR, 80GB drive, ATX Case, etc.

Also....if you are into saving money, the Microsoft Anti-Virus/Spyware solution is pretty cheap and provides you with 3 licenses.

Have PCR raid the Microsoft store..you can get a copy of XP pro for $25 bucks if I remember correctly.
