My older son, in his second year of Little League baseball, has just made the All Star team for Chehalis, and is off to the Tournament of Champions! Batting average over 600 and turning in to a damned fine catcher. It's pretty cool to see him succeed at something, especially after those bad report cards and calls from the teacher & principal all year long.
![]() He should do okay, if I don't kill him first. (how does one get expelled on the last day of the school year? Hint; It involves 'the bird') Wish him well. |

Congrats! That's a feather in the boy's cap. My son is 12. He's done the all-stars, and fall ball thing. He was fortunate enough to win the local minors championship this week (LSJAA)! Funny part was, he wanted to go to the school dance instead than play in the championship game. The final game was fast enough he was able to do both. Being the obnoxious parent, I had to harass him about the dance. Of course he denied having any "dates" but he did say he did the "grind" with some 8th grade girls. WTF!

Thanks all. ![]() Last night was the killer. They lost to our other local team, so it's a bittersweet ending. Finishing in third place, for the Tournament of Champions, isn't a bad way to wrap up a great baseball season. Trophys and picture taking tonight to complete the affair, and the other silver lining is that our lives are finally going to return to normal for a while. Those of you who have or have had kids in sports know how hectic it can be. Many bucks, miles and hours go in to these things, on top of the nail-biting. At least 6 weeks until football season starts..... just enought time for official BBQ season. Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

Third place is still awesome. Congrats to your son and his team. |
