, on Sunday had a sign on the door saying that they would be closed May 1 to celebrate "Labor Day"

,, mebbe I'm not too smart, but I thought Labor Day  is a  is a United States Federal Holiday that takes place on the first Monday of September.

, which would make it September 4 this year.

It is! Fuckem dont patronize their business.  If it were a true immigrants day most everyone in the US would satay home, but its a latino thing who expect us to just give them everything they want.  Don get me going.

I bet $100.00 that they are open for the 5th of May.

It's Cinco De Mayo.

My wife and I were discussing this topic last night.  My wife has Guatemalan heritage.  Her family immigrated from there.  They are all legal and tax paying citizens.

I was trying to explain to her what all the fuss was about last night.  With regards illegals not paying taxes and eating off the system.

She then asked me a question that I could not answer.  So maybe it can be brought to light here.

My wife made a valid point that quite a few people actually want to become citizens but are denied.

What do we as a country do when someone attempts to immigrate?

What is the process?

If they are denied citizenship what happens then?

Do we then blame them because they were turned down?

Don't get me wrong I hate f$$%$@# moochers.  People who are lazy and refuse to work so they can live off the system really gets my blood boiling.

I'm just curious what the official U.S. policy is.

Yes, many deserving people that are better Americans than most of the citizens that already exists here are denied entry & citizenship, there are many very heart wrenching stories of people that did heroic feats in service of America and still did not get to become citizens, to allow criminals that refuse to assimilate to stay here is a insult to those that obey the law.

If we turn them down that does not constitute refusal on their behalf.  The point is that they are trying to do the right thing.  I'm not speaking of those that aren't.

Yes, it does show they have contempt for the law and the people that respect the law.

Seriously there are some very deserving people that should be citizens of America but have been denied citizenship.

I'm not denying that there are people who deserve to be here.  That is not the person I am referring to.  I'm referring to the immigrant who wants to be here and be PART of America.  Not the ones who live here and WANT what America will give them for free.

I'm speaking of the people who really want to be American citizens but are denied for whatever reason.

Thjere is a legal process for immigration to the U.S. Those who do not obey the laws of this nation in coming here, are criminals, by definition. For the opposing opinion, watch the "news" from the heart of RodneyKingCounty tonight. You'll see some "huddled masses yearning"....for freebies!   Viva MY raza!

Again for the last time......

I'm speaking ONLY about people who are doing the process the RIGHT way and are denied.

I'm not speaking about lawbreakers, criminals or the ones who want FREEBIES as you put it.

As far as your Rodney King Country comment that only shows your ignorance.  There would be no such term in your vocabulary if the 4 white officers that beat him were HONEST LAW ABIDING CITIZENS themselves.

Our representatives are sending a message to the illegals, and our own citizens that our laws need not be respected.

If someone can steal across the border, forge an SSN, lie to Social Services, purger themselves repeatedly, put false information onto documents and contracts, flee the country to avoid prosecution, then return and still gain citizenship and benefits, then what laws need be respected?

These illegals will believe themselves to be above the law and entitled to our money and property by any means they choose to employ. They will be damned racist about doing it too.

My Step-Sister who currently lives in the PI has been waiting to immigrate into the US since 1992.  The Feds only let a limited amount of people in each year.  I don't know the complete process, but waiting 10+ years seems a little extreme.

Not to me...

There is a limited number allowed in each year, and there is a long list waiting, the shitbirds from down south if anything are holding up the process for your family member in the longrun....

Please take a number......

Now see that is the response I was looking for.  It let's me know exactly how the process is flawed.

Thank you Da_Bunny.

I tried to call Rio Blanco's phone   to leave a message telling them about what Labor Day really is,

, and the commie May day AIN'T  IT !!

, and that THEY HAVE LOST ALL FUTURE BUSINESS FROM ME! ,
, and every one ELSE I know.

(sort of my own little mini fire mission)

, but they aren't answering the phone, and no message machine, either.

I'll get 'em tomorrow.

Actually, I was more or less just popping of a rant about the illegals.  I have zero problems with those who desire to come here, legally, to live as Americans. Several in my family fit in that category. Your comment about the "law breaking WHITE cops dealing with "motorist" King, well, if all you saw was the short version of the video, then you've had way too much koolaid. Maybe I'm just an old, ignorant WHITe clodhopper, but, having close friends who were involved in the incident sorta gives me a different perspective. Maybe I should form my opinions based solely on the network news.....nah, I won't.

I saw the long version.  Irregardless, no human needs to be treated like that.  Imagine if it were someone in your family that it happened to.

If anyone in my family had a long history of arrests, convictions, drug use and utterly antisocial behavior, I would gladly deny them 3 times before the cock crows. If anyone in my family attacked women, uniformed or otherwise, I'd club 'em myself. It takes dna to make a "human". It takes much more than that to instill humanity. The only reason that piece of human debris was invited to the pr-24 party was the feelgooders disrupted the proper contimuum of force by litigating a few steps out of it. IMHO, they should have drawn their pistols on him. When a known, fleeing felon attacks LEOs and REPEATEDLY fails to comply, well, WTF would YOU do? Say, "Pretty please?" Bear in mind, the resources available at that time were limited. Too many good men have been dispatched to their maker because they tried to appeal to the humanity of their opponents. Overwhelming force provides a favorable outcome, not, sympathy, negotiation, capitulation or good manners. Hijack over. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.

I agree that the LEO's needed to use force to make him comply.  That is not my argument.  It was after he was detained that I have an issue with.

Nope absolutely not.  I'm trying to get a better understanding of the hostility towards the people that actually try to obtain citizenship but for whatever reason are not able to obtain it.

All people south of the border are not criminals.  Nor are all the people of Iraq or other foreign countries.

I'm just trying to learn for myself what the immigration process is so that the next time someone asks me a question about it I have an answer.

I'm all for keeping terrorists, rapists, murderer and moochers out of our country.  The problem with the theory most people here share is that we have wayyyyy toooo mannnnyyyy Americans who do the same thing.  Should we kick them out of the country?

Remove them by force.  Let those who properly apply be granted citizenship if they deserve it.  Screw the rest.  But this is just one guys humble opinion.

I will drink to that....

Coming from a Mother who was a "LEGAL" immigrant that learned to speak English, wouldn't take a handout if you gave it to her, and studied to become an american citizen I have no sympathy for illegals at all what so ever. Ever want to see me get wound up watch me at a bank machine when its asks English or Spanish. What a crock of shit...I don't see how and the hell you can exempt the illegals now to give them their papers. Why the hell have a border to begin with along with the laws to protect it??
