Are any of you seeing this?  Or rather, did you see this event?  Tremendous amounts of lightning, lighting up the sky east of Seattle, maybe over the Cascades about every 20 seconds.  It's been going on since about 10:45 pm.  I got a few pics, I'll get them up once I'm awake.

I've been checking it out.  What I find odd is the total lack of thunder to go with it.  I'm in the Newcastle/Renton area, so maybe it is just too far away for thunder to be heard......

Indeed, I'm in Redmond and no thunder, up until now.  It seems to be moving West, since I can now hear thunder and the bolts are larger and originate higher in the sky.  I'd take more pictures, but the battery died, and I have the dreadful feeling that I left the charger in Leavenworth.

I can't get to bed, it's so fascinating.

oops, messed up on the file shrinking.  Hopefully no one gets hurt.

There's lightning both north and east of Redmond now.  One particular bolt traveled so far across the sky that I had to pan from the north window to the east windows to see it all.  I think I'm going to unplug the electronics now.  How much could you see from Renton, Scollins?

I saw tons while I was down on Alki Beach in Seattle. Coming back home I got hit my a sheet of rain right around Eastgate and it continued towards Issaquah as I headed up the Plateau. Pretty cool stuff.

I saw it strike Seahawk Stadium around 2ish. Impressive.

I also noticed the total lack of thunder. I remember the old folks back east talking about "heat lightning", I dont know if this was it or not.

[liberalidiot]kind of ironic that the storm would hit while W is in town since his policy against the environment is causing global weather changes that result in such bizarre athmospheric conditions[/liberalidiot]

We could see the flashes all the way down here in Centralia!  Me and a couple friends jumped in my '66 Ford pickup, grabbed a case of beer and went out chasing it.

Yeah that was amazing, it was so wierd to watch silent lighning.  However, once the storm blew overhead (out here in Duvall) it went from completely silent to very loud!!  After some of the thunderclaps everything in my house was shaking from the noise.

I watched the show from Redmond starting around 10pm or so, just bright flashes in the distant east. Fell asleep on the couch and was awoken by the sound of extremely loud thunder CRASHES around 12:00 or so. The storm must have gone directly over my head since the flashes were immediately followed up with the loudest crashing thunder and rumble. What a show. I haven't seen or heard anything like this since I was about 12 and living in Germany. A tree about 20 yards away from our house was split in two by lightning.

I would expect no less from you...bigger trucks need bigger holes.
