At -12 this morning the light in my pump house was not enough. No lines broken, and a space heater is running.

Burrrrr

I usually don't need anything but a lightbulb on in my wellhouse either but I decided to plug in the heater anyway just in case.  It was 7 degrees at my house this morning.  The entire eleven plus inches of snow on the ground and by the sounds of it, a bunch more on the way!  I guess you can call that froze up...

Well, the sun set on November 18th, and won't rise until January 22.  Plumbers and Furnace people make a crapload of money in the winter here in the land of Two Seasons.

Froze? Why? Is it cold or something?

I just went out and licked the metal signpost.
Didn't stick, so no, it's not cold.

Is it time to quit wearing shorts yet?

Have about 1/4" of snow on the ground here right now. My truck door was frozen the other day, but having spent a winter in Wisconsin a few years ago, I had some left over lock-thaw stuff. :)

I'm very concerned because we forgot to purge our sprinker system this year.  I called a landscaping guy about it yesterday and he said that it usually takes about 4-5 days of deep cold weather to freeze underground lines like that.  It made me feel a little better, but I don't know...

Tweak you loveable bastard.  I am formally inviting you up to Barrow.  Bring your shorts.  I will not let you leave without joining the Polar Bear club by fully submerging yourself in the Arctic Ocean.

I hear that having more fiber in your diet will help with all that freezing up.

I have no concept as to why you folks live up there. I would fall into a major depression with all that darkness. I have a tough enough time here in the midwest. 10 hour days suck enough!

Oh no, no. It gets cold in AK, snows there too. Did some research on the topic of "Is it ever too cold to snow?". Do you know it actually reaches minus Fahrenheit degrees in AK? Amazing, simply amazing.

I had enough fun tonight (2200) knocking the 5" of snow off my car (so M could get to work) in my sweat pants and slippers. But that's just lazy. "Polar bear" swim? Uh uh, only word that comes to mind is "permashrinkage."

I dont know if Tweak is blowing smoke about wearing shorts, but I am CRAZY and Monday was the first time I have worn long pants in about 4 years (yesterday was the second) but due to the tropical warmth today I am back in the comfort of shorts...time to go play in the snow and freezing rain.

I work in a bar, we keep the heat turned up for the stiffs. ETOH thins the blood and all. So I wear shorts, praying the whole way to work that my car doesn't get a flat, etc., requiring my walking anywhere outdoors.

I work about 1/2 mile from my residence, so I walk to and from work rain or shine.  I work in a cleanroom environment that is kept at a constant 72 degrees and about 55-60% humidity, so shorts are very comfortable.

No, but close.  I work for a division of Tektronix called Maxtek.  I mainly work on parts for the Comanche RAH-66 as well as the F-22, with occasional work in other projects for other military and medical customers.

Well that -12 wasn't to bad, till a tree went over and took out my power line out back killing the juice to the heater in the pump house after I posted.

Power back up, one split line, weather service said -35 for us, 10" of new snow.

Line replaced, pump reprimed, and that hot shower felt great.

Added; that -35 was with the wind chill.

WOW!  Very nice Wombat!

Considering Wombat is about 10 feet tall I would say he found himself the perfect girlfriend/wife/aquaintance/sister?/other

I am not 10 feet tall!  She is however a few inches over six!

PS.  The cilling in that iglo is almost 9 feet inside.  I don't like short things.
