Okay I'll be honest. I'm one of those poor saps who didn't grow up shooting guns. Over time, I learned about hand guns (specifically Glocks) and eventually took a class, did some reading, and became familiar with the gun. I have since purchased one. Now I would like to learn about Shotguns and AR15's. All the classes I've seen are for people familiar with them. What if you simply want to learn how to operate one, field strip & clean one? I know practice is what hones skills (and then I could take some classes) but what's the best way to get started? |
| In the case of the AR15, get a military manual on the M-16 (I think the most recent Marine version is best). Costs about $6-$10 and it describes everything you would need to know. As for a shot gun, the same could be said if your talking about a model used by the military. There are videos available on these topics as well. And last but not least, ask a friend who has one to show you the finer points of the weapon in question. I learned all I know from these sources w/o ever taking a class (unless you count having a degree in Mechanical Engineering). |
