This is a pic of a cat that was taken about 20 minutes east of
Bellevue just outside of North Bend. The hunter is Jim Hackewitz(sp?) of
Custom Osteo who spot-stalked him until he (the hunter) was too tired to
continue.
Then he varmint called to turn the big tom around for the shot.
He has scored thousands of skulls over the years and figures that
after drying out, the big cat should score #6 Boone and Crocket. Nice!
"That is one big cat!"

I have eaten Cougar.  It is a white meat and tastes a little like pork; as a matter of fact I have had it in a sweet and sour dish.

Mangy?  That is a purr-fect hide.

I can't believe he is holding it up - that puss is over 200#.

Wait till those "kitties" get hungry in the summer when a drought in on. They will take down a 200 lb man no problems. 80 lb kids and 110 lb women are nothing but a snack to them.

And yet the nature nazis would rather lose a couple of humans than a couple of cats.

In the perfect world the cats would eat the nature nazis!

Do you always have to get those cats so drunk before you take advantage of them?

Last time I saw a date that drunk it was at a CYO dance.

Has anyone forwarded this pic to PETA yet? I'd bet they'd get a kick out of seeing this guy wearing that fur the way he is.

I'm a little confused, normal, I thought the big cats were protected??????

This isn't that ranch in TX that buys old and sick Zoo animals and let's people hunt them is it?

My God, that's a big cat!!

TomJ, I don't know about your area but in most western states there are regular hunting seasons and licenses for mountain lions. But I've never seen one that big.

WOW, that's the biggest cougar I've ever seen. I had no idea they got that big.

You gotta be a serious hunter to stalk and kill one of those. That cat didn't get to be that big in just a season or two, that's a mature cat. That's very cool. Those things are the ghost of the woods, just seeing one in the wild is an accomplishment.

I'd be VERY interested to see some results of any studying on this cat. Age, sex, weight, stomach contents, length girth of teeth, ANYTHING.

What did he shoot him with?

Wow!  A kitty like that could sure ruin your day in a hurry if it chose to.  The thing that impresses me most about big cats is that they a so powerful, and just so fast.

Reminds me of a story I heard told by a Forest Service guy:

He had parked his truck at the gate on an old logging road and was walking along the edge of the road when he spotted a young doe ahead of him, about 30 yards away.  He stopped to watch her grazing, and had been doing so for about 5 minutes, when to his left, about 20 yards from his position, and the same 30 yards from the deer, he saw a "tan blur" cover that distance and take down the doe, breaking it's neck in it's jaws almost like it wasn't even trying.  He said it all happened so unbelievably fast he didn't even have time to think about drawing the .44 strapped to his hip, and that it probably wouldn't have done him any good if he had.  Listening/watching him tell the story you could just tell how awestruck he was, and how much respect he held for those animals.  I have seen big cats hunt too, and I share that respect.  My hat is off to a guy who can stalk, and take a cat like that.

A friend back in CA told me about a hunting trip during which he saw a doe crossing a field. He was puzzled by its behaviour-it kept turning around and looking behind. Finally it stopped, looked and took off at a full run. A minute later a mountain lion stood up out of the grass and stalked off over a ridge.
