Here is another source.   And your Ohio license is valid in all of Pennsylvania to include Philadelphia.    They love to harass gun owners, but it is legal to carry in Philadelphia.   As much as I wish they were not a part of Pennsylvania, alas they are and have to honor Pennsylvania State law.

Philly is a liberal cesspool. I would avoid it like the plague.

1 million percent wrong!

No special permit is required to carry in Philly. The only thing different between Philly and the rest of the state is that you need a license to carry in order to open carry, whereas in the rest of the state, you don't.

Carry in Philly is a non-event!

Only thing to watch is that you don't go into Federal places (Liberty Bell etc.) as they don't allow it.

We recently visited the Independence Center, 5th and Market, used their underground parking lot and did a 3 hour tour on Segways. Those tours don't stop to go into any sights so no prohibited areas.

The center is State run and there are no restrictions on carry in State Parks etc. Federal Parks too, provided that the State they are in (PA) allows it in their parks. Again Federal Building are excluded! (wonder if that includes restrooms?)

If driving, be aware that it is easy to get trapped into a bridge leading into New Jersey. If they find it, they arrest. If you think there is a chance, better to stop on the bridge and throw you gun and all ammo into the Delaware River

It's funny you mention that, it happened to me. I'm not sure what happened but I ended up going over this huge ass bridge and into jersey. Glad I didn't get pulled over!

Totally incorrect any PA LTCF is valid in Philly, as well as any permit which PA grants reciprocity too.

Only difference in Philly law vs State law is you need a LTCF in order to open carry.

Sorry been gone a while...

Someone asked if I was serious? Not sure if they meant about getting lost -YES not a virgin to getting lost

Or stopping on a bridge and throwing my gun away? That depends - chance of getting stopped in one of these communist states is pretty low. Chance of getting in an serious accident in one? About the same as anywhere else. (then you might be noticed in the ER or on scene)

You may recall the PA LTCF lady who did just that (crossed the bridge) and confessed to the toll booth attendant that she had a firearm. She was finally acquitted but that is crap shoot and depends on the judge/prosecutor.

Keep in mind NJ's 'Hollow point' law. It is a bit ambitious and depending on the local law enforcements opinion, you may prevail but only after the arrest/charges and hearing/trial. That is a lot of trouble compared to a fine for stopping on a bridge and littering... (do it on the PA side and NJ can't fine you)

I went through MD last weekend. My carry pistol was in my trunk - locked in a TSA container which was in turn was locked in a briefcase! Going to VA and back so I was Legal/Legal and double locked - felt pretty secure. Only stop in MD was at a Roy Rogers for chicken!

That's not a bad idea to have a lockable container kept in the car...
