I knew PGH was bad news for anything tactical in the way of brick and mortar shops, BUT it seems to have gotten even
worse in the last year or two, if that's possible !   There are a couple of places with low tier complete weapons, but virtually
nothing else.   I was able to secure a number of tiny AR parts from Gun Runner yesterday, but the picture overall is mighty bleak.
And of course, the PGH phone book system doen't help in the least.    Anything at all ,worth the trip, in say a fifty mile radius of
the "Burgh, of do I need to wait 'til I eventually relocate to Lou. KY ???

yeah and they even have a website  http://altrafirearms.com/Home.html

then there is this place about the same distance southeast of Pittsburgh http://www.pfrognersfirearms.com/

Both of these places are Class 3 dealers, they both have lots of Black Rifles in stock, they both have awesome salesmen who treat ARFCOMers well and I have purchased from both.

I will say this, AltraFirearms is in a more interesting location and they have a more interesting inventory. Lets just say its NOT a FUDD store, I dont even think they have any hunting rifles.

Here is a quote from their website "AR’s are fully one third of our stock. If you’re looking for the latest from such great names as LWRC, Bushmaster, CMMG, DPMS, Plum Crazy and Spikes- you need to check us out! If your taste is more for the European and eastern-bloc, we have what you’ve been looking for: AK 47’s, AK 74’s, CETME 308’s, VZ 58’s - as well as the wildly popular line of Russian Saiga rifles and shotguns! For the collector, we also have racks and walls of Mosin-Nagants, Mauser K98’s and Swiss  K31’s- battle hardened - but ready to go! "

I will also recommend Tom at PFrogners. nothing but good experiences.

and i think the name of the place outside of Carmichaels is called I.W.S. Weapon Systems. I've yet to go there and i only live about 15 minutes away. just can't find the time. They are also having a Zombie shoot or something this weekend. I'll be out of town or i would be going to that.

John Browns Armory in Rochester PA is my go to store when it comes to AR receivers.  It's about 20 miles North West of Pitt.  He's an FN stocking dealer.

Forget about that Ace patented hard time....but I thought I'd give Big Buck a shot.   Asked them if they
had any rail covers????   Wrong move....."whats a rail?"   Tried to explain a Picatinny 1913.
Reply...."Are they made out of cloth??"   Nooo shit !   Way past time to get outta here.  Sometimes
I get the impression that Pizzburgh is on the verge of discovering the percussion cap !  But then
mebby not !

Big Bucks is an overpriced turdshop who knows nothing and they sell to average joe FUDDS. Have you checked out the shops we told you about?

Its slowly gettin better around here, but SWPA is probally gonna be fudd central for the rest of my life. Theres a couple local shops that have catered to the "once a year" hunters  forever. You know the type, archery/hunting guns/boots. They have recently gone apeshit getting in everything they can Glock,1911,and AR related. They have said that "shooters buy alot more stuff than most hunters".

At least some people around here can tell an SKS and AR-15 apart. This wasnt the case 20 years ago.

Not a fan of them at all.... But good luck trying to find a store that carries good AR parts and not cheap focus or blackhawk
Junk. If its magpul stuff then it's way over priced

Czar Firearms in Ford City has been open about a year and shows promise. Small place but the owner is really into black rifles. Not a huge selection but they are a LaRue dealer.
