I'm just wondering what it would take to get rid of this damn firework ban? Everyone around me gets the big stuff and sets it off, and noone really cares. Its rediculous to think that everyone buys these things, everyone wants them, and noone in PA cares if you set them off. Yet we are not allowed to buy them, and to think that eastern PA is known as the fireworks capitol by many.
Are our chances any better now that Rendell is gone? |

I'd love to fix that, in addition to the bizarre shit involving the purchasing of any alcohol here. This is bureaucracy out of control and is just whacked.
Also, the state inspection system and driver's license renewal process are unnecessarily costly and stupid. ––Fargo007 |

I buy them, legally, each year in PA. It all depends on where you live. If you happen to live in a town/boro that does not have an ordinance prohibiting them, you can obtain a permit from your local government.

Hate to break it to you amigo but I have been using those forms for years and there is not one single solitary thing about them that is legal. I always talked the same township supervisors into signing them each and every year, knowing that there is no such form that circumvents the law.
I love the hell out of fireworks and wish very much the rules were different, unfortunately the ONLY thing that form can do for you is buy you a tiny bit of leniency when the judge hears the case. Mental note: that only works one time. I always have overkill for fireprotection and generally put on a better show that the city does. Thankfully the staties are decent guys and people only saw them if they went full on retard with stuff like cremora bombs or just obnoxiously annoying the public at large. |

A permit for a fireworks display must be obtained from the municipality where the display will take place. The municipality is the only governing body with authority to issue this permit under reasonable rules and regulations adopted by them. Upon inspection of the display site by the fire chief, or other designated officer, and the posting of a bond of at least $500 for any possible damages, the municipality may issue a permit to a person they deem competent. |

I understand what you are looking at. Ive read it all. Ive used several versions of the form including the one from your URL. I know what the laws say, I also know what the law said in Indiana county when I got popped. Hell the township supervisor was even there. That was actually my only saving grace that it was deemed a "misinterpretation" and that the form was not legal. No alchohol there *too many children around and I wanted it family friendly*. There was no horseplay involved, everyone was safe and had two volunteer fireman present to perform firewatch and assist. We all thought we were in the right, because of those forms. Your mileage may vary of course. I was happy to not have it escalate into further trouble, it was after the finale *before 10pm*. All in all I maybe "punked out", but I chose the path of least resistance and apologized profusely and said and did whatever was asked of me to avoid being arrested. And also another possibility is they interpretted things entirely different than the rest of the state. I wasnt willing to risk it. I was just a guy living in a burrough that wanted to safely entertain his neighbors and their kids. |
