| Lewistown Pistol club will be hosting a multigun match on 4/23. There will be six stages. Two have transitions between shotgun and pistol, two are pistol only, and two are tansitions between rifle and pistol. The round counts are (at a minimum) 26 shotgun, 17 rifle and 74 pistol. Our rifle shots are limited to 50 yards max due to limitations of our facility. Match fee is $40. If you want to register for the match or have any questions, e-mail [email protected] |

I'm planning on coming....this will be my first 3-gun, so I'd like to get an idea on what to expect, and what to bring to the match.
Equipment wise, I have a Berette 92F, and AR-15 carbine, and a 20ga Semi-auto shotgun, so I should be covered there.... Ammo wise, what do I bring for the shotgun? Buckshot? 7-1/2's? Slugs? AR15 - is there a limit on mag capacity? Are there mag changes for the rifle involved? Are the shotgun targets moving? clay birds? or targets like you use in IDPA or USPSA? April is waaaaaay to far away! |

Slugs? 7 1/2 birdshot for the shotty AR15 - is there a limit on mag capacity? Are there mag changes for the rifle involved? No capacity limit. You should be able to complete the courses of fire without a mag change if you're using a 30 rnd mag, but you may want to throw an extra one in your back pocket in case of a malfunction or some other nonsense. We don't have a ton of rifle work for the match. Are the shotgun targets moving? clay birds? or targets like you use in IDPA or USPSA? Shotgun targets are stationary clay birds and pepper poppers. Plan on reloading the shotgun. Courses of fire are geared around strings of 8, 6 and 4 targets, so an extended tube mag giving you 8+1 is ideal, but you can shoot it with a standard capacity shotgun, you'll just need to reload more often. You'll wanna be sure you have a way to carry extra shotgun shells (at least 6 or 8) Pockets work, but aren't ideal. April is waaaaaay to far away! |

Jimmy, so your not limiting shotgun to 5 rounds at a time this year? |
| Shooters, I just wanted to do a quick follow up to this match. I know that $40 is kind of steep for a fun match without payout, but the club is currently in a legal battle with a cantankerous neighbor who is trying to shut us down. I'm doing this match in an effort to raise funds for this battle. We're a relatively small club and our attorney cost us $2,000 for the retainer and the bill will probably be around $10k by the time we are done. Since the neighbor is trying to use the safety zone rule from the PA hunting regs to stop us from shooting, if we lose this battle, it could have a negative impact on any club in the state of PA that's located within 150 yds of an occupied dwelling. I think we'll win, but we need to pay the piper. Thanks for any support you can offer. |

I have shotguns, but not really appropriate for this type of shooting. When do the pistol shoots start back up? |
| IDPA and USPSA pistol will start up in April. I believe we go on the second and last Sunday of each month. You can run my shotgun if you want, just get in my squad. You can use a regular 5 round capacity shotgun to shoot it if you want to, it will affect your times (slow you down) as you'll have to reload more often, but if you feel more comfortable with a gun you know, there's nothing stopping you from using it. |

I appreciate the offer. Already had a second offer from another member here too. I have two shotguns, but they're bird guns. Short mags, no slings, long barrels. I figure those wouldn't be very convenient for this kind of shooting. They don't see much use anyway, I mostly shoot pistols these days, with rifles being second.
This will be my first 3-gun. |

You won't need a sling for rifle or shotgun for this match and long barrels won't hurt (no cornering or anything). Transitions involve grounding the long gun on a table or in a barrel. If these are hunting shotguns (I've used my remmy 870 before, with and without a mag extension) you can remove the plug and it will hold 5 rounds. Not as handy as 9, but it will work if you need it to. I'm running a remmy 1100 if you want to use it. Just let me know. |

I have a 1100 set up for 3-gun and shell caddies if you want to borrow them. I'd be glad teach you how it all works out at Scotia some weekend. |
