I was born & raised in PA. I`ve had a permit to carry for years. Last  year I retired & transplanted myself & other to NC. When I come up to Pa to visit  family & friends, is my permit still good to carry while I`m here? I haven`t got a NC permit yet, they  cost 200 & that`s hard money to come by on SS money.  Thanks  & I do miss good ole PA.

If your fulltime reisidents is now in NC, no your PA resident Carry Permit is no longer good .   You may be able to get yourself a FL non-resident permit and that would be good in PA , but I think you would need a carry permit in your state of residents .   Someone well set us straight on this matter .

If your PA home county sheriff were to find out you have permanently moved it's very likely your PA LTCF would
be revoked.  ( Technically it's still good if you are only visiting NC.   )

Without a NC permit you can't get a NON resident PA license either.

If I were in your shoes , I would collect cans and bottles or work at Mcdonalds to get the money for a NC permit.

Your license is good until revoked. Moving, is not a reason for the license to be revoked.

Now, one could argue that since you are no longer a PA resident, your resident LTCF is no longer valid. However, as I said, a LTCF must be revoked and there is no wording in the law about moving out of state making the LTCF no longer valid.

Thanks for clearing that up guys , I would think once you moved from the state you would loose that since your residents is another state.

Couldn't you just get Florida or Utah?

You need to get your NC permit... and you will be good in both states. I don't recall the permit fee being $200 when I was down there. I seem to recall having to go thru an approved safety course first though.

I'm not sure where in NC you are, but we offer a Utah permit class in Hampton, Va (not too far from NC) and the Utah permit would help you out in PA.
