I went to the semi-annual MG shoot today in Lawrenceville.A few dozen guys with their toys burning up tons of ammo.
AR's,AK's,HK's,some WW2 stuff,M60,1919,and a several .50BMG were mainly what I saw.A few other types I didn't get close enough to ID. I had a good time, other then my toes getting numb towards the end.One guy let me shoot a few rounds through his 50BMG. |
| Bah, us SE PA guys miss out on all the fun. :( Is this the one they also have in late June? My uncle's friend always hits one in NE PA around then, but I haven't make the trek up there yet... Figured I wouldn't have much fun with just my m11/9, but hopefully my RDIAS will be in by then... Unfortunately, us SE PA guys can't even find a range to shoot at "normally", let alone an organized shoot. |

The reason you missed the shoot is because it is NOT advertised and is semi-private. We really try to keep shoot dates off public boards and are definitely NOT looking to become the next Knob Creek. We like our small shoot and the fact that we generally know 90% of those that show up pretty well...it's one of the reasons the shoot has run for over 10 years with nothing more than some very minor cuts and scrapes.
The range is NOT huge and while our "Frozen Nut" shoot last weekend was pretty small, our shoot last September came close to maxing out our line...we really aren't in search of many new shooters. Some AR15.com regulars were there (one in particular wussed out because it was too cold) and they can announce themselves if they wish. In short, we don't mean to "dis" anyone in the Title II firearms community but we like our shoot the way it is. As it has always been, if you know someone who attends and they extend an invite to you, you're more than welcome to show up (and I'd be more than happy to sell you a T-shirt) but the date is kept pretty much on the Q.T. otherwise. Some pics from the shoot are up at http://smcfirearms.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=17 (disclaimer: I run the website linked for a newly licensed dealer/manufacturer and posted the pics.) Firearms represented as best as I remember were: Sterling Mark V (L34A1) Sten Mark V HK MP-5 SD MAC-10 Walther MPL M3 Greasegun UZI (several variations) M-16, AR-15, m4geries (various) Browning 1919A4 Browning 1919A4 Shorty (not sure what the barrel length on Toe Tag's gun is) Madsen M50 M60E4 Mark 43 Mod 1 American 180 PPSh-41 Barrett M82A1 Various suppressed pistols New England Firearms single shot 20 gauge (become cool with the reactive projectiles Toe Tag shoots from it!) ...and I'm sure I missed a bunch!! It was WICKED cold (the wind chill was in the 10F range) and a few regulars were not present so the selection of weapons was a bit off. I think it was the first time we didn't take any beltfeds to the shoot (usually an ANM2 and an M2HB) and we left the BAR behind too. Took handheld stuff, mostly subguns...at the end of the day it was a QUICK teardown! I also have a video from the Fall 2008 shoot that I tossed together posted here http://smcfirearms.com/picvid.php (that page is a work in progress!!) |
