I recently got a new job VERY excited, and i need a little advice, I am just looking for a little input on what will be the best for me. I am starting to get pretty excited to get out of the peoples republic of NYhave I don’t want to be living in the heart of either city, I prefer to be in a more rural area, I am a farm type person I have horses, and other animals. The animals will be staying home for the beginning. I will be planning a trip down that area this week to find something and just wondered who is around that area that can give me some kind of input its tough when your not from that area and never really been around it. I have been researching areas in Lehigh, Montgomery, bucks and Chester counties. Anyways thanks for any input/heads up at all that you can give me in my hunt for a place to live. thanks again very much kris |

Central bucks county. Lower Makefield Twp, Newtown, Falls Twp, and Upper Makefield Twp. are all very nice. (Excellent school districts). So is Langhorne, Northampton, Warwick, Richboro. It's really, really nice here, you're gonna like it. Check out LanghorneRodandGunClub.org too. ;) --Fargo007 |

looking for a apartment, yes anywhere north or south of allentown is very rural and very beautiful. look for anything running along route 32 (river road) ... woods and lots of scenery along with delaware river pure biker heaven if you ride motorcycles, or route 611 N of doylestown, or 412, or 611 , new hope, regalesville, nockamixon, anything in that area , following the river up towards allentown, or above allentown towards poconos all very quiet wooded, and farms .... people come from all over just to see that area of PA. finding a apartment might be hard in those areas... look for local papers such as the bucks county herold www.buckscountyherald.com/ or.... if you want to be more near philly, than newtown, yardley, churchville, richboro, 18966 area zip would be a better choice |

I'll throw this one out for you..... Check out the area near the Lansdale Interchange of the NE Extension (#31).....it is halfway between ABE (Lehi Valley Int'l Airport) and PHL. I lived in Elroy, only about 7 minutes from the PA Turnpike..very nice area...Souderton, Franconia, Hatfield, the Gwynedds. Reasonably peaceful, almost rural - there are still working farms in the area. Good luck. |

If you have a choice, I would want to live up towards Allentown as your living costs will be significantly lower then down towards Philli. Now, if you are yound and want a active social life, Philli may be a better fit but being married with three kids I have no social life so what do I know. I live in Chester County but just outside of Valley Forge and it is very expensive to find a place around here. Welcome to PA! |

Hi guys Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! I went down and was down looking around the area and trying to figure out where I should move. The trip as a whole didn’t go overly well it’s just overwhelming at first to pick some where and be like I want to live here h Here is another thought for you guys, what about Lancaster??? I have done some research and found that the AMTRAK train goes from there into the Philly airport, and also the Harrisburg airport is not too far, I was on a trip to New Holland a few weeks back and I liked the area, I guess it slipped my mind anyone have any input on that area?? Anyways thanks very much guys you have all helped me a lot |

I lived in Western Lancaster county for many years and the huge advantage out there is realestate prices. Out there, you can buy a 10-acre property for less then what I can buy a 0.5 acre lot in the Philli burbs. In fact, you may be able to buy 20 or more acres for the same price! The downside th that area is there is not any of the big city stuff that you may want BUT I'll be honest I wish I could move back out to that area! Dauphin county tends to have higher taxes then Lancaster but parts of Lancaster County can be pretty expensive too (Hempfield is an expensive area as one example). I lived in Elizabethtown and I swear one of these days I am going to quite my job and move back out that way and take any job I can get to start over... I am tired of killing myself off working 80-hr days even if it does provide me with a darned good income that lets me buy some expensive toys (that I never have time to shoot). |

Lancaster County is still fairly low cost, but is being developed no that Berks is pretty full up. The advantage is that we're still rural enough to want to stay that way,at least somewhat. Large area are being put off limits to developers and hopefully it'll stay that way. The train stops in Elizabethtown,Middletown (Dauphin County but just over the border) and Lancaster City. I've taken it down to Philly, nice to be able to read or snooze instead of driving. Harrisburg Airport is only 20 minutes or so (actually right against Middletown) and they're adding flights all the time, also BWI isn't too far (we flew out of there to Vegas to get married). If you want me to set you up with my realtor P/M me here. She's really great, helped us a LOT with our first home purchase and is an excellent start if you're so inclined. On the firearms side, we have lots of places to shoot, several good shops in and around the county, and LTC is easy to obtain. Philly and Pittsburgh are pretty liberal but the rest of the state still has their heads on straight. Come on down, shooters are always welcome. |
