My buddy and I were driving back to school yesterday and got pulled over for speeding.  Was going 9 over the speed limit (74 in a 65).  The officer takes my license and registration and goes back in his cruiser and comes back with a ticket and said he lowered the offense so it wouldnt be as big of a fine.  I got a citation for "Obedience to traffic control devices".  Does anybody know what this violation means?  How many points do I get on my license for this.  I just do not want to loose my license.

He did you a favor.  This carries no points as it is similar in nature to a parking ticket, etc.  It's like 84 dollars right or close?

Pay it and don't speed.  BTW was this a PA State Trooper or local guy?  Locals are prohibited from using radar and have to rely on timing devices and being such the speed margin of error you are given is more.  11mph for timer devices and 6mph for radar.

$25 fine + costs, magistrate fee, CAT, etc should be right around $100.00 total, give or take.

And yes, he did give you a break since it carries no points.

"Obedience to traffic control devices"
Basicaly the speed limit sign like a stop sign or yeild sign or no parking sign is considered a "traffic control device".  Your ticket was for not adhearing to the posted sign or traffic control device.  The cop definitly cut you a break.

(a) General rule.—Unless otherwise directed by a uniformed police officer or any appropriately attired person authorized to direct, control or regulate traffic, the driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of any applicable official traffic-control device placed or held in accordance with the provisions of this title, subject to the privileges granted the driver of an emergency vehicle in this title.
