So they are taking apps, but new guys are excepted? So only people who aren't new guys can apply, but they don't need to apply because they are already in, but if you are a new guy, and you apply, you can't? Sounds like MCSO logic. LOL. There has to be an acception to that rule. |

What's the average age of a posse member? There are actually a bunch of different Posses at MCSO. The Sun City Posse is a ginormous organization, awesome facilities, it's own fleet of vehicles, dispatch, etc. They wear uniforms but they aren't armed. They do a lot of good volunteer stuff in their community. Self funded. Average age: one hundred and seven.
The different MCSO Districts also have Posse units. They are QAP. Qualified Armed Posse. Those dudes wear county uniforms, are qualified with weapons, tasers, less lethal, DT, drive around in marked units and respond to calls to back up Deputies. They are all ages. Some are young guys who want to be cops and are using it like an internship while they finish college and apply to agencies. Look close at a lot of the "Deputies" you see and you'll notice the Posse scroll on their badge. (Or it says, Detention Officer, that's a different bag of cats.) To be a QAP guy you are going to expend hundreds of hours of your time and thousands of your dollars for gear. There are also Posse dudes with Lake Patrol, Search and Rescue, Aviation, and the Tactical units, and etc, MCSO has all kinds of full time units and a bunch of related Posse units. Most are good guys. Some are wannabes. |
