I've been in AZ for one year and never heard of the Arizona Border Recon. Is this a hush hush organization or not well liked?

I'm not into organized groups, militias, or discussing such things on public forums - all of that invites lots of herp and plenty of derp. There are plenty of friendly camping trips with groups of solid citizens that sometimes happen in the general vicinity of the AZ/Mex border. Connecting with them is typically invitation only.

This.  If someone DoS something really stupid while you're there as a group, it's very easy to be arrested for "Conspiracy to commit ..." charges.
Know who you're going with and make sure you're aware of their mindset.

Just sayin...the bold may be fact....i will not confirm or deny the existence of some groups.....nor my knowledge (possibly of only a rumor) of said groups.

If they are posting on the internet as a "come join us" they usually are fucked up or about to get that way. If they act like "operators" they usually are fucked up or about to get that way. If they speak of their "unit" they usually are fucked up or about to get that way. If it reads like a support your local BS pledge attempt they usually are fucked up or about to get that way.

Vetting "who" you align yourself with is TOUGH when everyone uses GI Joe callsigns and nicknames.
Do they (and you) know justification of force laws? (brown people walking through the desert and into your "band of brothers" is NOT on the list)
Do they (and you) know the difference between legal detainment and kidnapping? (if not the penalty is stiff)
Do they (and you) have DIRECT and reliable comms with the people getting paid to be out there? (draw on LEO's let me know how that works)
Do they (and you) know the permits, rules and laws governing the areas they are going? (Citizens given a trespassing fine chasing "illegals"....irony knows no bounds)

Here is what I've noticed. You have a lot of interest in 'doing something' right up until that something means giving up your time to do boring stuff like train and plan. But everyone wants to do the dumb PR stuff or wander around at night.

Arizona Border Recon is the ONLY group I'd consider volunteering for. Very good guys doing good things the right way. They do all kinds of charity events and are respectful and professional at political rallies. Nailer is about as selfless as they come, I think the guy spends more time supporting the BP down by the border and donating blood and doing charity work than I spend at work every week.  Nothing but respect for him.
