Can anyone recommend a machine shop in the Phoenix area (preferably the West Valley) that does good work? I need to convert 100+ A2 flash hiders to muzzle brakes.

I think with set up charges, shop fees, and labor, it would be cheaper to just get new brakes.

I have the flash hiders already from take offs. I had a guy doing them for me for $10 each. He is MIA for the last few months. It is an easy job using a 5/16" tig welder and lathe. I just can't weld nor do I have a lathe.

Again, for very close to that same cost you could have new muzzle brakes, and sell the A2 flash hiders as is.

Again, as stated, I already have the flash hiders. I was just looking for a local machine shop to do the work.

$Free for (100) already owned A2 flash hiders
+ $1000 for labor to convert to (100) FHs to MBs
-----------------------------------------------------------------
= $1000 Total Cost

$2700 plus S&H for Cavalry Comp
-$600 for sale of FHs (going rate)
-----------------------------------------
= $2100 Total Cost

Sorry, I don't see where spending $1100 more for an inferior product is "close to the same cost".
Yes, that brake is inferior to a Branson Brake clone. And uglier.

$2700 at retail.  Did you contact them for volume pricing?  I know what it is and it's a lot less than that.  Want 5 ports? Spec that and at 100 pieces they might be able to do it.

If you're doing this as a business and that doesn't work for you, google machine shops Phoenix.  You're going to spend more money converting what you have than just making new brakes.  Submit a print and get a price quote.

If someone is really gonna be a contender in the muzzle brake game, they are not going to be welding up an A2 and re machining it to make something from it.
Totally foolish compared to properly making a brake from virgin materials and heat treating em to a proper hardness.

Welding and re profiling to make something new is just plane dumb.
It's like the pri brakes rated for 300win mag having the front baffle blowing out when shot on a 300winmag.

Here is a pic of my brake done from an A2 flash hider and washer, and of a Branson Brake. They are done the same way. I've sold hundreds of these.

Sounds like I can't get the cost of $10 per modification around here. All I was asking was if anyone knew or used a machine shop that would do this work. I didn't expect to be told not to do it or buy something else. Sorry for the request.

You're more likely to find a turning shop that can make them for you new for less, than you are to find someone that wants to weld up what you have and re profile it.

This isn't the answer you want, but it's better than what you're doing.
