I am looking for some camping suggestions up near Payson.
Is it possible to camp near water and not be at a paying campsite next to other people? Can you still camp off FR300? Any other non developed campsites around there? A few guys in the party are in trucks, but not 4x4, so we cant get too crazy with the trails. Thanks for any help or suggestions! |

The Sierra Club and Obama administration are in the process of closing off most of public lands to anything free. As of yesterday, the travel management program is not being aggressively enforced. Don't know about today, though.
Hopefully, Gonzo, will be along shortly to help you out because he seems to know the area pretty well. http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/coconino/landmanagement/projects/?cid=stelprdb5356224 Doesn't look like Tonto has completed their plan, yet. http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/home/?cid=fsbdev3_018761 http://campaign.r20.constantcontact.com/render?ca=776b7df9-3455-4dc1-8f1b-a085fceb6f3e&c=2f6576d0-202e-11e3-ab1e-d4ae5292c426&ch=2fd17f10-202e-11e3-ab22-d4ae5292c426 |

Flowing springs road, about 3 miles north of the Home Depot in Payson, has no pay spots next to the easy verde river. Just, don't burn the forest down, I have relatives who live back there.
There are also spots along the dirt road into blue ridge reservoir( now known as C Cragen reservoir) which are no pay. |

message sent. As for closed roads...........ossible you could get chased out by warden but it's not like there are gates or signs when they close a road. At least if there was someone must be mysteriously using bolt cutters to take down locks or fences and removing signs or chainsawing and removing the trees that seem to fall conveniently over roads out there after being cut down. No idea who would do such a thing but shame on them . How are we supposed to know if a road is closed if people are up there pulling these shenanigans. |

fuk them and their plans. There isn't a road obstruction they can build that someone can't tear down. I refuse to be herded into designated high traffic areas of MY MOTHERFUCKING FOREST I PAY MOTHERFUCKING TAXES TO PRESERVE. If they want to limit traffic in national forrests they should only permit people who actually pay an income tax to use them. Free shit army not allowed. You don't pay taxes fuck you no forest for you. Quoted:
