Just how bad is AT&T overall?  I hear more complaints about every company, including AT&T, than I do VZW.

My dilemma is that I've moved into an area called Stetson Hills (55th Ave and Happy Valley).  The quality of service in the area around Deem Hill, close to my residence, is shit.  My called are dropped and I've been "placed" onto the neighbor's lousy network extender, which only makes the problem worse since the extender isn't mine, but you can't avoid it.  The data is 3G only, limited LTE if you drive or walk around.  I use WiFi, but still.

I've called VZW and they were actually more than happy to let me out of the contract rather that offer some solution.  In fact, their only solution is for me to buy my own extender (over 200 dollars) and piggyback off my internet.  Yeah, good solution; real service.

Apparently the morons around this area don't want any cell towers, despite a lot of them being well disguised.  Not to mention, you know most these bozos have VZW themselves.

I ask about AT&T because my GF has an older non-smart phone with them and her call quality is perfect.  Unknown about the data, but it's moot on WiFi.

Would a move to AT&T be awful?  How is the service really compare around town?  4G, call quality, coverage, ect???

Thx,
Chris

Do you travel the country and sometimes not in a major city? If so you will see why Verizon is better. If you never leave Phoenix I couldn't see Verizon being any better other then speed.

Used to have the 3G iphone on AT&T.  It was ok out and about, but got 1 bar of signal at my office and no reception inside my house in Avondale.
AT&T and Tmobile both don't work inside my wife's store.
Coworkers that have Sprint hate it.
Verizon has been solid for us, but of course thing will be spotty based on your location, terrain, and tower location.
AT&T could be great at your home and crappy at your office.
I believe you get a trial period.  Keep Verizon going and sign up for AT&T.  Make sure you spend some time at all the places that matter to you during the first week.
If it's not an significant improvement, then cancel and keep Verizon.

Are you on a grandfathered unlimited data plan?

Nothing comes close to verizon for signal outside of town.  I have had service WAY the hell out in places in the mountains and desert.

Not on an unlimited plan.

And yes, VZW does usually work great camping, although I do go to some dead zones.

Thanks for the replies

I've been on AT&T for over a decade now, mainly because I get a pretty killer corporate discount.  But I can't complain about overall service.  The caveat is that I'm usually always in larger metro areas.  I know I lose signal when heading up to Pinetop for around 30 minutes.

I live in that area and I have AT&T.  I haven't had any issues with them.  I get LTE in my entire neighborhood.
Edit because I still don't know how to post replies properly.
