Hi all, thought I would finally introduce myself after years of lurking.  I love guns, motorcycles, and the desert!
I am a welding foreman for a large steel company, and even though I am young If you have any questions about welding I will do my best to answer you!

I have learned lots from this great website, and I find that GD is quite amusing!

Ohh... and all my guns were lost in a tragic boating accident

I am in a shop. But I do have my AWS field welding certs. 3G-4G for stick, dual shield, and Mig. I have let my TIG certs lapse though.

I first started TIG welding for a laser and cataract company welding medical grade stainless steel. I also welded lots of specialty aluminum parts for hotrods.

I have also done side work building artistic wrought Iron gates and fences. But that has been awhile.

So 2 1/2 years ago I started in Structural Steel. It was quite the change! Massive steel and welds!

Plan Is to become a welding Inspector.

lol.  looks like the welds my father in law did on my gate hinges with his harbor freight tiny welder with no gas and flux wire. One of the hinges already broke off.

speaking of,  if any of you have a decent mobile rig and want to run four small beads for me so my gate is secure let me know.  Free beer for a few minutes of your time.

We will be happy to give welding tips.

Or teach you how to weld with a slightly better technique...

I first started welding with a Oxy-acetylene torch back in high school and my welds were just awful at first. I would have a dirty tip and the torch would loudly pop causing me to jump halfway through the weld. It was then my instructor introduced me to cleaning my torch.

Beautiful welds Xtac! When are you thinking about taking the CWI test? I've been thinking about it for a while too. Maybe we can study together when AWS has their seminar in Phoenix. Looks like its in July.

It took me 1 year of high school welding shop and 1 out of my 2 years in college welding classes.
And I'm still nowhere near as good as others on this forum.

Results may vary!
