my wife wants to get a Glock 19 and have it cerakoted.  I would like to get it done local.  I know that there was a thread or two about it but I can't find them.  Anyone have recommendations of a place?

UPDATE

anyone ever had any experience like this with X-Werks.

UPDATE 2:

Got my wife and her sisters glock back from X-werks. They did an awesome job. The pink one the picture is not the best.

PS Local is a relative term. Local to me is NW Valley. Local to Rizzo is Prescott Valley, Local to VictorGonzales is Chandler.
Soo, having said that, you could specify your local.

I am in the West Valley but local is in Phoenix metro somewhere.  I just don't want to ship out of state.  If they are an AR15 member even better.

PS thanks for the links...was on my phone yesterday and searching is a pain.

That is the thread I was thinking of.

No wonder I could not find it.  It was in General Discussion.  I was looking in the hometown forum.

No experience with these other companies, but Tactical Instincts in Gilbert did me right on a 1911. Very professional, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. 15% off for mil and LE too.

Tim at Alternative Coatings has done 2 G34 slides and a carbine rail for me.
Quick turn-around and competitive pricing.

X-werks did a great job on my Beretta 92, and they held to their deadline.

I have done a bunch of looking around last night and that seems to be the only negative review i could find. Besides timeline for me is not a huge deal since this is a second G19 i have.

I hope this isn't a thread hijack.  I wanted to address f40's question, as well as drop my friend's info who does my coatings.  My guy is in the east valley (Gilbert).  He is a member here too.  He does a MIL/LE discount, but what I really like is that he coats one gun for free for Wounded Warriors.  WW folks have to pay for the Cerakote, but his time and labor are free.  Check him out:

Mark @ Ghost Hammer Arms
(602) 361-1432

I didn't believe all the hype about Cerakote and I'm always reluctant to try the latest greatest thing.  Mark started doing Cerakote about a year and a half ago.  He did one for me free of charge to convince me how tough it is.  I gave him a steel frame Colt Commander sized 1991.  One thing that never holds up well with coatings is aftermarket aluminum triggers.  After a year of carry, rough handling, aggressive mag changes, and about 2500 rounds, you be the judge.  The trigger, barrel hood, slide rails, mag well, hammer face and firing pin stop are the common areas of coating wear on a 1911. Those areas are all worn very little on this gun. The only real noticeable wear areas besides those are the left side safety lever, where I dropped it on concrete, and the corners of the slide near the muzzle.  Those corners always wear with any coating, and I'm very impressed how little wear there is.

Forgot to respond to f40's question....

Held up great, got rid of it later on to sink money into other things. It would take a lot for me to choose someone else over TI next time, as their attention to detail was outstanding.
