I've got a couple billet lowers I want to get anodized - one is going bright pink for the old lady..
looking for recommendations for some place local?
I've polished them up to 1000 grit so far.. I managed to get out all of the tooling/machining marks

not sure how far I need to go for bright anodizing either.. should they be polished with a cloth wheel?

From what I understand, any defects get magnified with anodizing..

Do you happen to know if they can do the old Colt AR grey?

+1 for Southwest metal finishing, they do all of our stuff.

Check the first three photos of the purple rifle I built for my wife for christmas to see a sample of their type-II color work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/predatortactical/

I know I'm doing a run of mil-black and purple in the next few weeks, may do pink too. If you want to get in on it I could split the lot fee with you, which is less because we do a lot of business with them.

Give them a call about your finish question, they're really helpful. We bead blast everything, so I'm not sure how a polish would turn out.

We are actually doing some sample pieces with various finished (brushed, blasted, high speed skim cut, and polished) to see how it turns out. I know when we blue steel it makes a big difference, I'm hoping the results are similar with anodizing.
