Forty seven more day's until I get the hell out of this fucked up state, and into freedom! Flying into California to visit some friends on the 26th of July, then check out Prescott, Arizona to find a place to live.

I've done my homework, and Prescott is where I'd like to be.

How long does it take a political refugee until they're considered a local?

Immediate. Most people here are transplants.

No time limit...but there is a test.
(Hint...the more Libertarian you are the better you score)
Sadly there is a tax, see Rizzo and since you might ens up in his backyard I would advise just paying it. (you might be well off to negotiate a no tax special if you take his AZ CCW/Basic Handgun course)

That's one of the first things I'll be doing on the "list," as well as finding a dealer to do the paperwork and turn my Stag into an SBR. I cannot wait long enough.

Question, any recommendations for a furniture store that doesn't kill you in prices? It's the only thing I haven't thought about.

What's this "tax" I've been warned about?

We need a sticky on the "Rizzo's Ammo Tax Rules"
Basically Glen believes that anyone who moves to our fine state owes him ammo.....seems to be working out for him, wish i would have thought of it

If you claim membership in the FSA `Rizzo's Ammo Tax can't be levied against you. Instead, the rest of us have to pick up your tab (highly discouraged).

When folks here discover you're from Cal you will be asked a series of questions.  This is to determine if you belong here or are a green Subaru wagon driving sandal wearing Obama voting member of the FSA with a save the gay unborn baby whales sticker next to the rainbow.

Do not take offense.  I faced months of it when I moved from Michigan.  It's just quality control.

I still owe Rizzo a box of ultra crappy Russian 22lr.

I'm not from CA, born and raised in Masshole-chusetts.

My collection may be small, but I own enough and the type of lead chucker's to make even 2A supporting Libtards pass out.

Lastly, I may be out of line saying this since I'm not even on the ground yet, but perhaps depending on Rizzo's age...perhaps some rocks will do? For nostalgia's sake?

Can't wait to be there and meet some of you.

Seriously, Massachusetts may just be the one and only state worse than California. All those warnings still apply though.

THE VERY FIRST THING YOU DO when you get here is go to the MVD and get your Arizona plates and Driver's License. If you arrive on a weekend, tarp your vehicle. Even if you have eleven months left on your registration, change it.

You may also wish to work on your cover story claiming you're from Vermont.

Not kidding.

Seriously, we can do that up here. Our big worry at the moment is that it's dry and there are fire/shooting restrictions in place. What we need is some rain. Fortunately we just entered into the Monsoon season and like last year, we'll get some rain and the restrictions will be lifted.

We're surrounded up here by public lands. We can't target shoot on the State Land trust, but we CAN hunt on it. The Prescott National Forest surrounds us, and beyond that are the Kaibab, Tonto and Coconino National Forests. We have some BLM land in places too.

There's a couple of outdoor ranges available to the public too.

We shoot, off road, follow forest roads and find petroglyphs, ruins etc. Our native people archeology is all over the place and much of it is stone. We've got Pronghorn just outside of town, with deer and elk close by. Dove and quail is getting sparse up here, but we go south for those.

You do have a job skill or trade or are retired, right? The economy is getting better but it's still not what it was.

Oh, don't cheat Rizzo, he has connections. The desert is big and holes are so small...

Sounds like I'll need a left seat/right seat from one of you.

I don't hunt, unless it's for a good cause to help feed the soldiers homes or vet shelters, and proxy hunts is okay as well.

Public ranges are meh to me. I know how to be safe, I'm anal about it, but when the range cadre commandos go full retard on retired cops and vets, it get's old really quick. I like BLM, I can set up my lanes and have a verify zero lane available for any WTF. I can go at my pace. Now if that public range as metal poppers at 200 or more, then I'm game. Love hearing those pings.

Petroglyphs? I'm so there. I do like to hike, go car camping, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. And it sure pisses me off when tagging shitbags have to try and ruin it all. Those essays need to be shot with a taser or somethin'.

6 years 11B, 15 as a 92A, Automated Logistic Specialist. If there's a warehouse stock control, a parts company needing an inventory specialist, a material moving company that needs a forklift operator, or an armed security guard, then I'm your man. I gave up lawnscaping after I made SSG, so that shit stays forgotten.

I'm on a fixed income, I'm a DAV getting full. My back is destroyed, I can barely carry heavy weights for extended periods with my left hand, and I have blown a eardrum in my right ear from too many IED's.

Try to restrain youself when I tell you this, but when you're in a free state you pretty much shoot wherever you want within legal limitations of town limits, roads, private property, etc. AZ is 85% public land, so drive out beyond where you will run into people, setup your targets with a good backstop, shoot to your heart's content, clean up your stuff (including brass and such), and go home happy having breathed free air all day long.

I'll be doing this exact thing first thing tomorrow morning for some long range practice.

If you are referring to carrying a firearm on the reservation, you are within legal AZ CCW laws if you are on a state highway or federal interstate, all the way to the fence that runs along the road. Other than that, you have to follow whatever the law is on whatever rez you are on.

You just described Avon. Stoughton sucks ass. It's either Town Spa or Town Spa. And I've lived in Vegas for a year. Alex's is garbage after seeing the delights of Spearmint Rhino..

Welcome to Arizona & Prescott, you will love it here.

Do you plan to buy or rent first? Do you want suggestions on where to look? The Prescott area has a lot of diversity in housing/neighborhoods, you could live in a beautiful Victorian house with a manicured lawn in downtown Prescott or out in the sticks on 40 acres. Then there are the surrounding towns that have their own character.
What are you looking for?

A gated community apartment possibly, or a decent area free from; Hoods, ghettos, projects, block busting, crime infested areas. No thanks.
