I thought I would see if anyone here is a mechanic, or knows one who is fairly competent and wants a little side work.

I just bought a 1989 Dodge Raider (2 door Mitsu Montero). The AC isn't blowing cold, not sure what the problem is. It might just need freon.

It could also use an alignment.

If anyone can recommend a trustworthy shop, I'd go that route too, if no one wants to make some $$$ on the side.

Believe it or not ---- BRAKES PLUS on Greenfield and Baseline.   I have used these guys for brake jobs, oil changes, and just had them service the wife's 2005 Chrys Pacifica --- AC charge and repair, brakes, oil change, etc.       Their pricing is very, very fair and the work has always been very good.   I have found them to be very honest, competent and I never get that greasy, slimy feeling that I am getting bent over like some other shops.

I know --- some have had bad dealings with other BRAKES PLUS locations, but I have sent several friends to this location and never a complaint.   In fact, it's tough sometimes to get in there, especially on Saturday mornings, as they have a very good following of customers.

Case in point on the Pacifica --- the car needed new brake rotors all the way around as the old ones were warped.   However, BP told me that my pads were good and no need to replace them, just the rotors.   Most shops would have said they "MUST" replace the pads as well in order for the work to be guaranteed.   So these guys were honest and saved me money too.     In fact, I opted not to replace the back rotors, as money is a bit tight and I wanted to see how the car re-acted by just replacing the fronts.   And they were cool with that too.   Well, just as they said ---- I would feel a minor degree of vibration in the pedal coming from the back, when the brakes were applied.    So they called the diagnosis correct too.

I don't say that all BRAKES PLUS locations are the same --- but this one get's my business 98% of the time now.

Sounds great, and they are only a couple miles from home. If no one pipes up about needing the work I will give Brakes Plus a call.
