LukeDuke and I found a mine last weekend.  Decided to check it out.  It was sketchy as hell, and I admit my adrenaline was flowing.  More than the last time I jumped out of an airplane.

Hauled a ladder out there and climbed in.

I was trying.  They were sucked up so far, Jessica Alba couldn't have coaxed them out.

I can take you out there and you can crawl in there.

Did you see any "claim markers" nearby? Lots of the old mines in the Florence Junction/ Mineral Mountain area have been re-activated.
Gotta be careful to not get shot for claim jumping. Just being on the claim isn't claim jumping, but you could be mistakenly seen as "jumping". Stay frosty.

Oh, and a mine story..
I was exploring out near the Oklahoma Mine (Florence) and ran across this shaft going into a hillside. I sent the dog in ahead of me. The shaft took a turn to the left and I couldn't see the dog anymore. A second later, the dog came running past me on his way out. This is as fast as I had ever seen this dog run! I stood there for a few seconds, then quietly I inched my way backwards toward the entrance.
I haven't been back.

Good for you sunshine. Go be snooty about weapon light mounts elsewhere.

What kind of ARFCOM-ers are you guys, rookies?

I don't see nearly enough AR, mags, body armor, and pelvic thrusting while shooting in this video.

I left my AR, mags, and armor at home.  I wasn't sure how deep I was going to be able to go so all I really wanted to carry was lights and water.  The shotgun was really just to make GD happy.

(oh and snakes, I don't like snakes)

I had my ar + 5mags  glock + 2 standard mags and a 22rd mag. And to back those up  I had my colt defender for good measure.
The legality of shooting where we were is in question. People do it allthe time tho bit that doesn't make it legal.

i dont blame you. I see no point in going into a mine unless you are looking for minerals.  Nothing else there but maybe a snake that will bite your ass when you don't expect it.

I love exploring old mines but going any further into that shaft would be past my limit on safety. Even ignoring the cave in risk, crawling in there with little room to maneuver and finding a rattle snake in your face is not something I relish. I have found Mohave rattlers twice in mines, fortunately I was standing and saw/heard them before I got too close.

That's a black-tailed rattlesnake. They seem to have a thing for mine shafts.

Lol first thing I thought of.

When my wife was going to NAU we googled local touristy sights and we found an old lava tube. We decided we would hit it the next day and check it out, so I started loading a back pack with ammo, lights, MRE's, etc. She is like "what are you doing?" I couldn't even verbally explain myself I just made her sit down and watch that movie on the spot lol, she was all about the bug out bag after watching it.
