going to payson for a day trip with GF. going to the urban pond out there then want to do some hiking. but dont want to drive too far away from payson since its just a day trip and i work at 6 AM on friday

Keep going west from the park and you'll get to the doll baby ranch area. The east verde goes through the area and there are trails in the area.
