From his facebook today: Over the past two weeks the Senate Judiciary Committee has been marking up various gun control measures. Yesterday I voted against the Universal Background Check bill sponsored by Senator Schumer. While I support strengthening the background check system to make it more difficult for criminals and the mentally ill to purchase guns, I don't support universal background checks that would apply to gun transfers between family members, neighbors and friends. Such background checks would impose burdensome paperwork requirements as well. The Schumer Bill passed the Judiciary Committee with a party line vote of 10-8, and will now go to the full Senate. Assuming the Schumer Bill retains its current form on the Senate Floor, I will oppose it there as well. |

I'm reading it as a cordial way of saying "Fuck you, we don't need no registration." But I could be wrong. |
