Committee Chairman Justin Pierce needs to hear from you With a Republican majority in both chambers, pro-rights bills should be moving along, but that is not what is happening. In the aftermath of Newtown, we are seeing the enemies of freedom on the move all over the country, introducing and moving bills on both national and state levels. Unfortunately, pro-rights legislators everywhere seem to have been affected with a severe case of timidity, and are unsure of the level of public support for pro-freedom bills. Apparently because of this, pro-rights firearms bills in the Arizona House are languishing this session. While firearms related bills are normally assigned to the House Judiciary Committee, this year a number of bills have also or alternatively been assigned to the House Public Safety, Military and Regulatory Affairs (PSMRA) Committee. We will not attempt to speculate on House Leadership’s reasoning for the double assignments. Representative Justin Pierce, chair of the PSMRA Committee, needs to know that the citizens of Arizona want him to schedule pro-rights firearms bills for hearings. The deadline for his committee to hear bills is February 17th. |
