Hey guys right now im living in Illinois and have been wanted to move for a while, I first wanted to pay off some bills. I have been To Arizona a few times I have been all over the state but wanted to know know how is Flagstaff and Phoenix area? Wanted to know how is living in these cities, towns? Hows the job market, price of housing, taxes I would be looking for a apartment or house to rent first. Also how much would license plates be for my 2005 Ford F250 any city stickers in Arizona?
Right now in IL plates are $160 and the city sticker is $200. I also posted this in the Texas Forum, Im just looking to move out of Illinois and love most of the Southwest. Thanks for your help everyone. Hoss |

| Nothing wrong with flagstaff, but its a small tourist/college town. So it can be boring at times and then crazy at times. I'm in the NW part of the valley in Peoria and Love it. Great prices on houses, great location.... bought my 1800 sq ft 4 bed 2 bath house in 2010 for $125,000. Built by DR Horton in 2008. Prices are trending upwards and it has shifted to a sellers market, so now is the time to buy before another bubble again. I would look to the suburbs. Peoria, Suprise, Anthem, N. Phx, etc. You would be close enough to major shopping areas, restaurants etc, Ben Avery (outdoor range is close by) but you have handful of indoor ranges and of course state trust land you can shoot on (table mesa rd, etc) Good luck, lemme know if you have anymore questions! |

I have seen an upward trend in new housing construction and home prices. Still alot of good deals to be had here. I'm in the East Valley (Apache Junction) and love it here. Close to the lakes and Tonto National Forest (2 million plus acres) just a few minutes away. In fact, "I can see it from my porch". /Palin/. The above poster is incorrect though, no target shooting on State Trust Land. Hunting is OK. Target shooting allowed on National Forest or BLM land in which there are millions of acres. Want to shoot 1000 yards, a mile? No problem. Rizzo will be along shortly to collect the ammo tax.... ETA -- Vehicle tags are based on the vehicles value. Once it reaches a certain age, it levels off at about $50 a year. Smog testing is required in the metro areas like Phoenix and suburbs and Tucson. |

Thanks for the reply's everyone, right now I would defiantly have to rent I dont have much money. Im a easy going guy dont need anything fancy. I'm single and no kids so I would be moving by myself. As for jobs I was a carpenter a few years back, im good with tools right now learning to weld was trying to get a welding certificate but there are no schools near me, right now I just have a Associates in Criminal Justice. Im going to try to take a trip to Arizona this summer and check things out.
