Does any place have 1 or a few available in the valley?  Takes 1"x2" for IPSC targets?

Build your own out of PVC. Cheap to build, and easy to transport.

Muzzleblast (www.azmbi.com) usually has some in stock.  I have a pair and one of his steel targets

Rizzo - How do you weight the PVC down?  Had wind issues with the stands I made from 1x2s.

TCB - what have you shot at the steel targets and what distances?  It says 3000fps which 5.56 would be slightly over or pushing it.  One of the reviews says it's been shot at within 50ft with 5.56.  I will still check with Muzzleblast though and his steel targets.

bring a sandbag to weigh them down.

This is what I do with my homemade PVC stands, however I'm thinking about staking them instead; carrying a pair of 25lb sandbag's and target stand 200-300 yards sucks.

Jason those steel fixed target stands from Muzzle Blast look functional and are a pretty good price. I have an adjustable stand from Target Meister, also made here in AZ, I bought a few years ago that is pretty dang nice but man their prices are pretty steep now.

Empty sandbag + E-tool + native soil / rocks next to the target stands = WIN!

I have personally shot mine with handgun from inside 21' (.380-.45)
Carbine, only from about 50' and out. Never any issues. My current target is virgin...just picked it up, gave my old one to a buddy that moved away.
There is some video out there of 1MOA Solutions banging it full auto, just cannot remember where? Email or call them, IIRC the distances stated are more about a liability of spalling and such more so than what the target can handle....but don't quote me on that.

Yea, that is way too much work and stuff to carry along.  Don't get my wrong, I like functional workouts but not my focus at the time.  At this point I need to work on speed and accuracy normally.

An empty sandbag and an e-tool is too much to carry? Interesting.

I could carry it but when you have the stands broken down, backers, paper, staple gun, etc   just more crap to take with and I don't want to spend time filling bags, not just one.

Make them out of scrap 2x's etc...
Heavy enough not to flip...except on windy days.
quicker to doodle and scan than type..

It will work for me as I build the stands up on the firing line. I just carry it out in one hand and carry one or two, if it's windy, 25lb sandbags in the other hand. I have some spare empty bags and an e-tool so I think I'll try Glen's way as I've had stakes come out with high wind.

Found that making your own base from 2x4s and using firring strips with cardboard stapled to be best.  Firring and cardboard are easy to come by and the base is heavy enough to not need to drag around sandbags.

Next fun show is in Feb.
I bought mine from a guy who makes the wooden ones like the doodle above. $25 bucks I think.

I have had it for a year, and its all beat up, but still stands, and very sturdy. Wood is better than PVC IMHO since the wood can take more abuse. The PVC usually shatters or explodes with anything under 100 yards.

I build one and within a few min of Buck it was done. My wooden one has lasted many shotgun outings.

For the record, I shoot way less than anyone here..

I make metal target stands and sell AR500 targets if you are interested I can build you target stands.

Prices start at $30 for stands and $12.99 for AR500 targets.

PM or email me for details.

Here's a link to my photo bucket that has all the stands I've made in the past.

These are the ones that are $30

I just drilled hole in the pvc and then use 4 - 60D nails and pound them in, easy.....sometimes the 60D nails are a pain to get out.

I make mine out of furring strips. For the stand I use an old rim I welded a couple of small sections of pipes onto. Furring strip legs fit into the the stand. Rock steady.

How about now?

I do all this out of my garage, just trying to make a couple extra bucks for my shooting habit

I think I have the IPSC stands covered but wouldn't mind some steel.  I will keep it in mind.

I found a guy that does really nice work with those target stands. Super clean welds, drilled for stakes, painted if you want, pretty inexpensive. his phone number is 480-396-6614 but can't remember his name... i have him as "target stands" in my phone haha. Met up at cabelas and bought one from him. He says he'll stand behind it to and replace it for free it if ever fails (not shot to hell)

I make mine out of PVC.   Just make the bottom part out of 2" PVC and fill them with sand (or extra lead if you have it)  I then but a layer of hot glue above the sand but below the joint.

Costs about $10
