Yes we all know if you know what you are doing at home, it blows any bbq joint out of the water.

Now that we got that covered...

Just ate at the new Rudy's in Chandler, was very very good.  This is the Rudy's from Texas.

I try all the bbq places I can as I get a chance.  Joes real, haps, famous daves, honey bears, each one has things I like and dont like, or they mess up something that should be basic bbq 101 to not screw up.. mainly too dry.

What are your favorites around here?

The best Barbecue in Arizona is Bobby Q's on the I-17 and Dunlap. Complimentary cornbread before every meal and its the best corn bread I've ever had, and then free donuts after every meal. The food is great, the drinks are strong, and the waitresses are beautiful. I don't know why you would go anywhere else. Make sure to get the Q-rolls and the onion block as appetizers.

I keep meaning to try that place, my buddy says same thing.  I just need to get over there.

I like trying different places as each grill master/smoker has their own "style", and it really shows in BBQ.

I can't even explain how awesome it is. They have so many things that are "the best" that they have ruined lots of foods for me because now when I eat something even as stupid as mac and cheese I think to myself "dam I wish this was Bobby Q's mac and cheese".

It was the first place I went when I came home from Afghanistan. My best friend does his birthday there every year and I don't how this started but they have a drink their called a "pineapple surprise" and whenever someone goes there for their birthday we make them drink one of those haha its a huge pinapple hollowed out and filled with different types of liqour. They also brew their own amber draft that is pretty fuckin good. I was just there this weekend but I've been talking about them so much now I'm going to have to go there again....

Some of the best BBQ I've eaten locally is at the local Mom and Pop Pizza shop.
If you ever get to AJ stop at Fat Man's Pizza   Awesome pizza and the BBQ is pretty good.
There is another place local but the guy isn't always around Brown Bear BBQ

While we're talking about BBQ... I am now hungry for said BBQ, you bastards.

While we're talking about you bastards, we should arrange an ARFcom BBQ meet-n-greet or something like that.

We checked this place out tonight.  I'm not a huge BBQ fan but it was good and my family loved it.  There's a family style platter where you can choose multiple meats and sides that is a good deal and a fun way to order if your are going with a family or three or four adults.

Make a note––  this might be the first time I agreed with a Reservist post.

Used to be a place called "Dusty's" up near PV mall area (Shea and Tatum) but it's long gone.

Honey bears is good for Carolina style BBQ, the sauce is thin and vinegar based. (Order the pulled pork without sauce, and then put on what you want) There is one at Elliot and Priest.

Famous Dave's is ok, but rather commercialized.

Thanks for the tip on Rudy's, will have to try it on one of my diet cheat days.

After learning how to make good smoked BBQ at home, it's tough to go somewhere and pay the prices what what you often end up feeling is inferior to what you can make. :)

Just ate at the new Rudy's in Chandler, was very very good. This is the Rudy's from Texas.

RUDY'S HAS COME TO ARIZONA?!??!?!?!!??!?!?!?

WOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE that place!!!! its been a few years since I've been to one tho!

my favorite for Ribs is Famous Dave's (either the one near work or the one in the Bass Pro Parking lot)

until I read this thread, my 2nd favorite, especially for Brisket has been Tom's BBQ (the one on baseline, halfway between work and PRGC, the one near pistol parlour and the one over in mesa on the way home from Rio Salado!)

but now there's a Rudy's?!?!!?!!?

I think I've got a new favorite!!!!

I love Rudy's smoked turkey.  They jalapeno sausage is good as well.  Normally there brisket is to dry for the lean and the regular has to much fat on it.

Eat at Joe's has pretty good food.   They had some Armadillo eggs or something to that effect.   Hot pepper mixed with sausage.    There's 3-4 to an order and they are great.

I left AZ years ago and moved to Texas..  so now good bbq is right in my back yard on my pit.

Best
Joe's Real BBQ in Gilbert

Tie for 2nd
Lucille's BBQ –– Tempe Marketplace
Bobby-Q's  â€“– Phoenix, I-17

Small strip mall BBQ that is good
Andrew's BBQ ––  Tempe at Rural and Guadalupe

Arizona is pretty weak in the BBQ dept.   These places are the best we have.

I'll have to try Rudy's.  I've driven by there but it wasn't open yet.

Loved Rudys when I lived in TX, been hoping they open one up in Phx for years and now its just right down the road from me.

However, I also reiterate a prior comment, seems the lean brisket seems too dry and the moist is too fat.  Might just go with cutters choice next time.  Although I love the chopped brisket on bread and the stuffed potato.

Turkey and jalapeno sausage are great and really love the breakfast tacos.  Esp the hottie.

And also second the comment regarding famous dave, they used to have some of the best brisket you could get in Phx, but it has just gone to hell lately.

Bobbie-Qs is pretty good although my wife didnt care for it.

Honey Bears has the best pulled pork.

Joes is pretty strong across the board in Gilbert.

There is one place next to the University gun shop that is pretty good too.
