| So I made my way back to US Autoweapons today to pick up the threaded XD barrel they had and noticed a large police presence. Apparently someone decided to suck start a rental pistol. At least they decided to just start with themselves instead of taking it out on others. Feel sorry for the staff. |

I've heard that is relatively common at ranges that rent guns. Would it be a dick move to bill the family for the range time, rental, and ammo? It is more common than I would have thought. The problem is no one at the club will turn someone away if they appear upset or inexperienced. |

As a former indoor range employee who has witnessed it. It happens. It is to be expected unfortunately. The only thing to do is put in policies that reduce the possibilities. You can not tell who is going to do it because by that time, they are at peace with themselves since they have already decided to commit suicide.
After the third one in 15 years where I used to work we put in a policy that in order to rent you either had to have brought your own firearms, or have a second person with you. |
| I had no idea this was a "common" thing. What happened to people just swallowing a bunch of pills to do themselves in? Not to sound like an ass or anything... My wife's ex-roommate just shot himself a couple weeks ago and their family is pretty messed up because of it, so I'm not taking the situation lightly, but seriously, why leave a mess for someone else to clean up if that's what you want to do? |

Someone very close to me works at an assisted living home and sometimes the residents try to wheel their selves into traffic or walk into traffic to kill themselves. I think that is extremely selfish... Can you even imagine you and your kids are just driving around somewhere and some ass clown explodes on your hood... I hate people. |

A co-worker decided to end his life a few years ago. He was really upset for a while. We all talked to him and then he seemed to be getting better, however the realization after he killed himself was that he was "at peace" with himself. He walked around with a small smile on his face, talked vey little and seemed happy those days leading up to his suicide......f*cked up if you think about it. |

If I were at a point where I was wasting away in an assisted living home, I'd be thinking about that too. I can't imagine living in chronic pain and hopelessness waiting impatiently for death to ease my suffering. That said, I don't get the gun rental crap. If you're going to be gone in a day anyway, why not buy a pistol on a credit card along with a box of ammo? Causing the whole range to witness your death and/or put everyone else in danger is extremely selfish and stupid. |

Quoted: According to a post from Arizona Shooting, the incident took place in the VIP (Titanium) Lounge so maybe it wasn't a newbie with a rental gun, and apparently it wasn't on the range at all. Nothing at all in the media that I've seen. Ouch. I hung out in the Titanium Lounge once when the Avilas came down for the NRA show. That's going to be really expensive to clean up. |
